Dule Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Fingers crossed that he signs for us. Will be interesting to see if Kewell ends up leaving to create some more cash for other signings.

fyds Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Dule - Gonzalez signed for us last year - this is about permissions of one form or another. Not sure Harry is going anywhere
SkippyjonJones Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Not sure Harry is going anywhere don't say such horrid things
Swagger Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Is it the hearing today or is the decision out today?
koppper Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Is it the hearing today or is the decision out today? Today is d-day.
McBain Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 My gut feeling is he'll get rejected But as a wise man once said, 'My guts have sh*t for brains'
David Hodgson Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Dule - Gonzalez signed for us last year - this is about permissions of one form or another. Not sure Harry is going anywhere I rate Kewell highly, but he is becoming so recurringly injured that I don't think he'd pass a medical or command a fee for anyone else. I think our best bet is to get him as fit as possible for the odd cameo, or as cover.
Benitez Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 My gut feeling is he'll get rejected surely it's already been rejected hasn't it, and this is the hearing to try and over-turn that?
McBain Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 surely it's already been rejected hasn't it, and this is the hearing to try and over-turn that? I've no idea if this is the second application or the appeal of it. But they were b******s about it last year and I dont see much changing
Falconhoof Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I've no idea if this is the second application or the appeal of it. But they were b******s about it last year and I dont see much changing Why are you so pesimistic ?Its a completely different situation since last time we applied. Gonzalez has played at a high level of performance in La Liga, last time he was a nobody from the lower divisions. Don't forget, his application was rejected on the basis that they thought he wasn't good enough, its since been proven that he is. Don't think you need to worry.
Guest TheGaffa Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 From .tv a few weeks back.... "Writing in his liverpoolfc.tv column last month, Parry stated: "I can confirm that we have put in a work permit application for Mark Gonzalez. He's now fully fit which he wasn't at this time last year and has been playing well for Spanish side Real Sociedad. "We are also seeking a long-term deal whereas initially it was a one-season loan. The other plus is that Chile have broken into the world's top 70 in the FIFA rankings. Mark has had a significantly better season in terms of showing the quality we always knew he had. "We believe our case is much stronger this time round..." http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/archivedirs...060626-1456.htm Don't know how things will work from now on though with regards to him playing a certain % of Chile games now that he's quit international football
Dule Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 (edited) This is a new application. This new application has not been rejected yet, and today is the day we find out if we get him or not. P.S fyds, knew that but wrote the message in a hurry before i left my PC Edited July 5, 2006 by Dule
Guest YKI Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Gonzalez has played at a high level of performance in La Liga, last time he was a nobody from the lower divisions. He was playing in La Liga when we bought him, albeit for a team that were relegated, Albacete. I do agree with the overall point that he now has a higher profile, having played for a better team, putting in eye catching performances regularly. I'll be gutted if this goes wrong.
Kopfaithful Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 This is a new application. This new application has not been rejected yet, and today is the day we find out if we get him or not. P.S fyds, knew that but wrote the message in a hurry before i left my PC i thought this was an appeal, because he failed to meet the initial criteria of 75% of games for a top 70 ranked country.
Lee W Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 (edited) This is the hearing that Rafa is attending with his 'Best of Gonzalez' highlights DVD from last season on loan at Sociedad and I guess some snippets from the Chile games too. If it gets rejected, I reckon our lawyers will be sharpening their quills. Edited July 5, 2006 by Lee W
Leo No.8 Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I actually think with all the publicity surrounding this case and it becoming quite clear that Gonzalez is good enough to play here, that they'll show some common sense and approve it first time this time...
AE Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I actually think with all the publicity surrounding this case and it becoming quite clear that Gonzalez is good enough to play here, that they'll show some common sense and approve it first time this time... This is the British Government you are talking about..........
Gunga Din Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 yeah, they chucked in hitler too... sweeten the deal. wasnt Hitler a kopite?
Guest Prongsy Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 You may well be right actually, but I think I am right in saying it is controlled by the Department of Employment ultimately. The FA might well provide the criteria that are used to make the decision.Oh yeah, you are right about that.
fyds Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 (edited) wasnt Hitler a kopite? There is/isn't evidence depending on your references that he stood on the kop when visiting his brother and sister in law in Upper Stanhope Street pre WWI when he was on his uppers. Two recent (among the many) biographies claim factual evidence that he did visit Liverpool as his SIL Bridget always said he did, and a picture which supposedly shows him on the early Kop is included in one of these. However, it's now been admitted by Sir Bernard Ingham that Hitler has had no input into Department of Employment policy of decision making since he retired to Kent in 1987 and hid behind a ginger wig and some glasses. He now spends his days peering through the curtains at those kids across the road and lamenting the lack of Bobbies on the beat and National Sevice. Edited July 5, 2006 by fyds
Leo No.8 Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 wasnt Hitler a kopite? There is an urban myth he once stood on The Kop as a relative of his lived in Toxteth. How true it is that he went to Anfield I don't know, but a relative (either a brother or sister I think), did definitely live in L8...
Guest Jodus Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I actually think with all the publicity surrounding this case and it becoming quite clear that Gonzalez is good enough to play here, that they'll show some common sense and approve it first time this time... Altrenatively, they could bemoan another World Cup failure and be of the mind that another foreign player isnot good for the development of English players...

The family eventually moved to America and the last one to carry the name, Alois' son Patrick Hitler* died there in the early 80's. His childern changed their name and are reclusive, quite understabably. * Others think he moved to Seville in Spain and invented the Cruzcampo Missile. Edited July 5, 2006 by fyds
smokescreen Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 retired to Kent in 1987 and hid behind a ginger wig and some glasses. So it's true!
