heard some pompey fans discussing in all seriousness that zidane will be on his way to portsmouth, the attraction of "harry":lol:

He'll have to go to Portsmouth if he wants catch the ferry to the Isle of Wight. Maybe he's got a caravan there.

Didn't think of that did you?

also remember that his wife has always been very keen to live by the seaside

You know, I wouldn't completely rule this out. Pompey's new owner's are mega rich, they would offer Zidane a crazy wage if he was to have a final hurrah in English football. Like a lot of the top players who reach old age and play for a season or two in the Middle East.

He'll stroll about and take it easy and pick up a king's ransom every week. It's a slim possibility.

Fook Pompey then, I'll have a word with one of the Sheikhs tonight and gerrim over here. They'll likely offer him a big car made of diamonds and more caravans than he can shake a stick at.

but will he cope with the pace of the UAE league?

Joking aside, he got out of his Madrid contract a year early by retiring. Won't they be a tad miffed at letting him go just to see him pull on his boots again elsewhere?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

He should retire as intended after showing the world what he can do for one last time as he did against Brazil.

Have to check he will be eligible for the Asian Champions League knock-out rounds too.

remember two years ago alsaad from qatar paid romario $2m for 6 weeks to help them in the asian CL, and he was ineligible, so he took the money and didn't do anything for a month HAHAHA

Al Ain are the nearest team left in it here. Your mob is out I think, although good effort by Al Quwa Al Jawiya for even having a go.

I remember a story about Titi Camara in Qatar scoring a hat trick on his debut and being given a Rolls Royce or something.

al ain are a good team, they beat juventus a couple of years back, them and al hilal from saudi totaly dominate the asian club scene

I thought Al Ittihad were the kiddies over here?

Al Ain are sounding really confident, it was all over the news about Iordinescu returning from Al Ittihad. There could be a semi-final between the two if all goes to plan, which is a bit crackers like.

Crazy argument.

Kitchee beat AC Milan two years back - are you seriously going to argue they're a good team?

they also won the asian cl and were the finalist last season

Zidane is far too classy to keep playing when he's past it for the cash.

I think he's been so good in this World Cup because in his heart of hearts he knows for a fact that he is retiring, and this is his swansong.

I'm sure he'll hang his boots up at the end of this tournament; after his brilliant performances in this World Cup, it'll be a great way for him to finish - at the very top, where he belongs.

It's disgraceful he is hanging up his boots now. That's Real's fault for making him carry his own water and playing him every week in their sham of a football team.

He was woeful for Real last season - as you say I'm sure its down partly to playing for the circus and them utilising him poorly, but I just don't think the motivation is there for him in club football anymore.

He's done it all, scored winners in World Cups and Champions League finals, been the very best over a long period, I just don't think there has been anything left for him to achieve...until this much-maligned French team.

I think the criticism, and him deciding to retire, those two factors have brought the old Zidane back to life.

I wouldn't want to see him ploughing on in club football again. It's always sad to see a great, great footballer like Zidane retire, but let him go out at the very top...

Had the privilage of seeing him play twice for Real Madrid, I'd love to see him bow out at the top and win the world cup.
