This "Golden Era" of English players is going a little overboard. Many of our players look good in our league becauise they are surrounded by a very good group of international counterparts.

 

Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Ferdinand, A. Cole and Rooney are the best of the bunch but at a club level they are surrounded by great players. When playing for England they have to be at their best every game because the supporting cast isn't good enough.

Germay are certainly a fine team that is greater than the sum of its parts (something England never look like being).

I disagree - most teams are made up with one or two 'shining lights' & then additional players.

It is the coaches skill that then blends that collection of misfits into a team. (or not in the case of England)

Sven has wasted the tallent available by - it would appear - believing that simply selecting certain individuals would lead to a winning team.

History has shown time & time again that this doesn't work - just look at the money Fat Ron spent at MUFC in the 80's

 

I think Germany v France final - & would be happy to see either team win - Germany cos they are playing as a team, France - cos of Zidane - best player in the last 10 years
