Guest Red Mist Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Well said Leo. This World Cup has been ruined because of all the cheating going on. If FIFA are serious about eradicating cheating from the sport they should go over every single game and spot instances of unsporting behaviour, and punish the culprits, the manager and the national association of the guilty team.
John am Rhein Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I honestly don't understand the hatred and blame for Ronaldo. He bumped into Rooney before the match to wind him up.Big deal. Rooney stamped on a player well into the second half more than an hour after that. The ref and Sven said the card was for stamping on a player rather than Ronaldo coming over and getting involved which I expect to see happening when someone gets stamped on. Rooney needs to take a long hard look at himself rather than blaming Ronaldo for his own hot headed actions or it'll just be the same aul crap again come the Euros.. But it IS to be hoped that Rooney breaks his fist on Ronaldo's jaw.
Mike Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 i think there is a chance that rooney would have got away with a yellow, it was hardly a stamp.
jimmylibel Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Honestly don't think there is any more diving or feigning injury in this World Cup than any of the more recent, it's just being highlighted a bit more. (NOTE - Not aimed at Leo's point) Every four years we get this righteous indignation about 'foreign players going down a bit easily' with the inference being that they are cheating while the 'home' countries play with good Corinthian values. We all know that's cr*p. The English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh players etc are just as likely to take a dive and have been doing so for years. Oh and how anyone can give out about C. Ronaldo looking for a card for Rooney (regardless of whether it was true or not) and not point a finger at Alex Ferguson is beyond me, especially given the reputation some of his sides have had for surrounding referees etc.

And counting!"*. And still the papers will trot out the odd reference this coming season to Ferguson's Old Trafford being the place for nurturing young talent. "Give us the boy and we will give you the thug." *By the way, did you SEE Dunphy on RTÉ on Saturday in total denial? Brady was having none of it. No doubt Dunphy won't speak to him for two years now à la Giles and Saipan. Edited July 3, 2006 by Coyler
