Guest DanTheDaggerman Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 (edited) Very surprising. Thought he'd hang on for 2008. Fair dos to him for doing this. Who's next? Terry or Gerrard, I would think. Edited July 2, 2006 by DanTheDaggerman
McBain Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Jump before he's pushed? He shouldn't ever make a squad again
floyd Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Terry to be new captain, as hinted by Elisha, because McLaren rates him.
Mike Posted July 2, 2006 Author Posted July 2, 2006 didn't take any questions.just says he wants to continue playing.press gave him a round of applause.
McBain Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Terry to be new captain, as hinted by Elisha, because McLaren rates him. I hope so Dont want Gerrard near it
CarraLegend Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 He's been told to give it up then in other words and says he's giving it up to save a bit of face. Shame the bag of s**** didnt retire from International football

£440,000 Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Terry to be new captain, as hinted by Elisha, because McLaren rates him. I think making Stevie captain would bring the best out in him, but won't surprise me at all if it doesn't happen.
RafaShanks Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 It was the right thing for him to do under the cirmcumstances.
Des Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 aww bless. anyone would think he couldn't handle rooney dominating the headlines. f*** off beckham you fraud. You're all heart mate.
Dublinred4ever Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Brilliant PR move from the Beckham advisors. Firstly that statement and the resignation was planned for him, and guarantees him positive headlines rather than negative ones. it'll also divert analysis away from his performances and the teams and focus it on the usual peripheral fluff that Beckham is so good at. Would love to see a no nonsense type manager like Jack Charlton or Brian Clough in charge during the last few years. They wouldn't have pandered to all this nonsense
Guest Ant Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Thats Genuine, I don't care what he did before that is very very genuine
Stevie H Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 nasty you arei can't stand the c*** mike. worst thing about football over the last ten years that prick is.
Flanders Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 He faked an inury to save face because he knew he was going to get subbed, and now this because he knows he won't be captain under the new but equally poor England manager.Terry is nailed on to be Captain, I'd hate for Gerrard to be England capt.
smithdown Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Gary Neville got the armband last night didn't he? Surely he would be a popular choice, no? And by the way, feck off beckham you spice boy wannabe.
£440,000 Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Not sure why it was a noble thing for Beckham to do. He said he made the decision weeks ago.
