Was it that Gerrard bloke looking absolutely devastated after missing his pen or that Carragher bloke being gutted after missing his or Crouch coming on and playing his heart out to no avail and being thourougly depressed. Still though at least that Lampard didn't have cause to smile eh ;)

That Sammy Lee looked gutted as well.

Carra's said that going out of the WC is 'tougher to take' than a Liverpool defeat.

I was moved by the anguish on Gerrards face and it struck me that maybe the Liverpool lads in the squad enjoy themselves more with England than they do at Liverpool. After all they spend their time with lads who are culturally the same as them.

Anyway, whatever anyone says, a world cup winners medal is the most coveted honour a player can achieve and the Liverpool lads no different.

Anyone enjoying shadenfreuder over the England defeat is getting their s***ty little pleasure at the expense of the men who they next year hope will win them the championship.

I must admit to having lost interest in the National team ages ago - but i get nothing out of an England defeat.

The Rooney-Ronaldo bust up has to be the icing on the cake

Unfortunately there's no other way! :D

Yep, bet Carra enjoys playing second fiddle to Snoop Doggy, and enjoys the rivetting company of Gary Chuckle over Robbie and Xabi.

Stevie must get thrilled to f*** by asking to play out of position to accomodate David Platt

And Crouchy must love scoring goals and playing well, only to be put on the subs bench by a manger, he and other Liverpool players know, is not on the same planet as their club manager. Because of the system that propelled them to the Quaters.

Yep, bet they do enoy being with England than with Liverpool

Don't feel any worse than when Spain went out.

In fact, Garcia looked the most devastated of all our players to be on the plane home.

Simple isn't it?

yeah but did you have less ill will to spain in the first place. I've seen loads of your "I hate Ingurland" posts but have seen barely any mentioning spain

The brutal fact is we have very few world-class players, therefore we won't win anything. The biggest puzzle is why Rooney was sent off. Was it for:

1. 'stamping on Carvalho'? Not convinced about that, he was trying to keep his balance.

2. pushing Ronaldo? (who deserved it, chattering to the ref to get him sent off)

3. Or what the TV is saying now - he pushed the ref. Must admit, I didn't see that one.

Lastly, anyone else see Ronaldo wink to his bench when Rooney was given the red card?

I'd imagine there is a genuine bond between the England lads that transcends the cartoon world you've just described.

Carra might not enjoy the company of Gary Neville but hes got another 50 odd people to choose to hang around with from the england tour party. Mostly english lads with backgrounds similar to his and cultural references that he'd share.

I dont see how it can be any different.

That argument doesn't hold in light of greece

Yes it does.

Entirely ambivalent towards Spain except when our players had the ball (which was more feckin often than our england players had it for a start).

I do hate ingerlund though, you're right. Although towards the end I was hoping they'd survive cos of our lads and the three out of five penalty takers being Reds - I'd feel the same if it was any country.

Loads of the fans can feck off though and you know full well why I say that.

best part? seeing lampard flop consistently on a global stage.

the comparison that he's got with David Platt can now be laid to rest, as Platt did it on the World stage in Italia90, and Lampard has failed.

Comparissons must now be made between Lampard and Carlton Palmer.

Can only speak from experience lad can't I?

And great big chunks of it have been total sh*te with ingerlund.

By the way, I've watched plenty of Spanish games this tournament and nobody got decked after they got knocked out.

never watched any of the league games over there or when they played england or was that alright then.

As for England getting dumped, I'm sure like most neutrals, who don't support a national team with any huge conviction,

wasn't aimed at neutrals

Sammy, calm down, lad. He isn't saying that that's alright.

But if it's fans you have beef with then I don't see how you can't take an immediate and intense dislike to that. It doesn't make any sense to me. It's not consistent. If you were actively cheering England to lose for other reasons then I understand that. And I'm talking about those who want england to lose not those who aren't arsed either way

I enjoyed making 80 opening the batting.

Well done Sutty. Good man.

He may have done.

And there's a massive cauldron of reasons to want England to lose. It isn't just one, not for me. There's hardly a reason (bar being Irish, Welsh etc) on these boards over the last few weeks which I haven't at least partially agreed with.

Clean broom and I might be persuaded to think differently. Said that before Sven though and look how that worked out.
