Bascombe hints today in his Football Echo column that if anyone puts a decent bid in for Harry it may prove worthwhile. I guess

that'll only come down to whether Gonzalez gets his work permit.

Oh and that Rafa will head down to London this coming week with Parry and make a presentation on how Gonzalez should receive a work permit and that'll be helped with a DVD showcasting his talent.

Also he says Torres is considered overrated by our coaching staff.

Usual tosh from Bascombe, telling people nothing they hadn't heard already and managing to shoehorn in a dig at two of his favourite targets - Kewell and Houllier (when of all the s*** players in the world he could have chosen to illustrate a point he was making, he chose Aliou Diarra, a Houllier signing).

He is tedious in the extreme and lost my respect a long time ago.

I thought Bascombe was on holiday?

Usual tosh from Bascombe...

he's one of the only people in the media i'd trust to know what's going on at the club.. he's a fkin good lad too.. people should get off his case - you won't find many in the press who actually care about what's going on at LFC - Bascombe does..

Kewell's contract expires summer after next and he's on £65k a week.

Of course Rafa will consider any worthwhile bids for him.

It's not that much, he's well paid but not that much

I know what you mean, maybe he trusts Zenden (whose injury was a massive part of the reason Kewell played so many games) to alternate with Gonzalez if there is indeed anything in it.

I'd think we aren't looking for the transfer fee as Harry off the wage bill...

Aurelio is pretty versatile too don't forget.

Given that Kewell's apparently out for 6 weeks or so I doubt we'll be fighting off bids at the moment

I thought he had Gout? Must have been some bender to put him out for 6 weeks (not prison slang).

He still has the groin problem he picked up towards the end of the season I think, obviously he never had time to do anything with that over the games at the end of the season and world Cup

Kewell put in arguably our individual performance of the season against chelsea up there with Xabi v Everton, Momo v WBA and Gerrard against...everyone.

Playing like that he's unstoppable but he can't do it because as proved in that game his body f*cks him when he cuts loose

Sure he is a good lad and does care about the club but I don't rate him as a journalist - he is a sycophant who allowed himself to be used by Houllier, such was his desperation to curry favour. Instead of now being so bitter about Houllier all the time because of that, he should think about his own naiviety and lack of professionalism in allowing it to happen in the first place - or better still, just let it f***ing drop instead of constantly making sly little digs.

To be honest I would question how much insight he really does have about what goes on at the club, beyond that which gets picked up elsewhere anyway.

He said Rafa is heading to London? Must be taking the missus shopping because I don't think the Gonzales panel meeting will be there...

I believe thats correct. I heard something about them having an appointment at Cartiers the Jewellers. Something about puttng a hefty deposit down on a really special watch, to be delivered sometime next May ;)

Apparently Montse insisted..........

Apparently there has been a change of plan. Although Montse wanted a Breguet watch, Rafa said she will have to wait until June when the Mirror supplement will be advertising a Liverpool watch with a twenty four hour dial and the number 19 in bold red for about fifty quid. The money he has saved will tip the balance on the Alves deal thus everyone's happy.

I quite like Bascombe. He's alot better than those fools who write for the Post for a start. Isn't there something in Balagues book about how Houllier would meet CB every day for about 10 minutes but not really tell him anything. In contrast Rafa will only meet CB once for a week but will speak to him for a lot longer. Anyone else remember that?
