So: Bellamy proven PL goalscorer? I believe he got 17 last season in total. The same amount as Djibs. Morientes vs Kuyt. First of all, we don't own Kuyt. Second of all, he is an 28 year old dutch player who still haven't broken out of Holland. And Djibs was the french top scorer when we bought him. I rate the french league above the dutch.

Trabelsi and Pennant: are they better than Kromkamp and Finnan - Yes, definitely. Even if we get Alves who would then cover both right back and right wing, I see it as an improvement of our squad.

 

Finnan was one of our best players, and we don't own Trabelsi and Pennant.

Aurelio and Gonzalez: are they better than Kewell and Riise - Yes, in my judgement they are.

Based on what? The ten games Gonzalez played last year? Added with some hype?

I was with unitl the last line.

 

I think it's crazy to say the people we look like buying are definitely better than what we have. We hope they are but in no cases is it clear cut.

 

Having said that I don't see how it can be said that the likes of Bellamy, Kuyt or Gonzalez are merely squad players.

 

 

Can we just reiterate that one thing this World Cup has shown is that Steve Finnan is one of the best five right backs in the world.

 

He is a great defensive full back, but no more than competent going forward. We need full backs who truly understand the overlapping role properly.

Perhaps, we do need that option, but his ability going backwards (and skill at putting a ball in with either foot) makes him one of the best five right backs in the world.

I have plenty of faith. Im just saying that signing those players mentioned above, does not make us that much better. We need more. I'm not saying that Liverpool will not buy more. But you bring in a left back on free transfer, an unknown defender, and still haven't recieved a work permit on a winger. Thats all for now. In all fairness, the team is not that much stronger than last year beacuse of those signings. We are still a right winger and two strikers away. I guess.

So as said, im not that impressed yet. I don't know how things will pan out. But hopefully Rafa will prevail.

 

As for Jezzman, I really don't care how many goals Bellamy and Cisse scored last season. Bellamy played for a s**** team, and Cissé played out of position the whole season. Before he does the job, I think I'm entitled to question the purchase. I don't think big names are the only way forward, but players get big on their quality as players, and we could use some proven quality if we want to knock Chelsea off the top spot.

 

And I do take offense on your remark about me going out and supporting Chelsea. Where do you get off to write that smud. This coming from a person who dosen't mind quoting the S'n even though your'e flaunting the HJC shirts. Go figure.

Unfortunatly since the danish branch board only goes three months back I can't prove my statement about you quoting the sun, but I remember a discussion we had about it.
