IcelandicFan Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I have to say I am happy about this. He will come good for us.
Guest Jack Bauer Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 However Birmingham City are believed to owe Liverpool between £1 and £2m from the fee they agreed when Emile Heskey left Anfield to join the Midlands club. Hope that puts to rest the Heskey rumours
Red_Rob Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Good deal. I'm still not keen on Kuyt, but what do I know?
zimmie4444 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Happy with that. Good signing, and with Trabelsi looking like coming in too, we've finally got options down the right
c00p Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I thought we lost out on that cash they owed us due to them been relegated ?????????????
George Costanza Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Waste of money. Pennant & Bellamy in the same team should be fun.
Rushian Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I thought we lost out on that cash they owed us due to them been relegated ? We did.
nitski Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Never thought he was good enough to play for us to be honest. But he is better than Cheyrou, Diao etc so I suppose the squad gets improved. Hope he proves me wrong of course.
Benitez Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 (edited) Pennant and Bellamy in one summer Whoda thunk! But, Pennant is a very good young player, and would be a good signing at a reasonable fee I think, worth the risk! Gotta say I'm happy at the thought of him and Ballamy, rather than paying £10 + mill for Alves, and maybe 8 or 9 mill for Defoe or Bent. Edited June 30, 2006 by Benitez
Guest Paddy Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 He and Bellamy have got their chance and have a lot to prove, lets hope they now rise to it.
Guest Kev Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Both got pace, both got good control and both boyhood reds.
Morgul Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I like him, and think that he's got the potential to be fantastic for us. If the choice is between Alves for something like £13m or Pennant for £3.5m I'd choose Pennant every time. His wages would probably only be like half of what Alves would have been as well. Good deal.
Guest Sabre Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Pennant is a great prospect. He's got the right attributes, works hard, good crosser, good engine, excellent cross. He'll be great for us.
Maldini Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Delighted with this signing. Crouchy to get 20 goals next season.
Swipe Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I like Pennant, and i'm not averse to him signing - but we will regret not bringing in Alves. He'll go somewhere else and become a superstar. Mark my works.

Mark my works. maybe he will. But we don't have an open cheque-book, so what can you do. The team still need more than just Alves now, and it's understandable they can't and won't commit the bulk of the money to him.
hideNseek Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Not doing cartwheels over this one tbh, but I trust Rafa so fingers cossed that he'll be good.
RP Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Both got pace, both got good control and both boyhood reds. Will Rafa sign me? I've got 1 out of 3. Mark my works. You're still at school, aren't you?
George Costanza Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Will Rafa sign me? I've got 1 out of 3.You're still at school, aren't you? I've got all three. My final ball's not to shoddy either. I'm waiting for the call.

The team still need more than just Alves now, and it's understandable they can't and won't commit the bulk of the money to him. Fair enough - good point. Just disappointed. Not with signing Pennant. I like him - he's an ace crosser and for all those wanted a real, old fashioned winger, he's our man. But Alves would have really excited me. Would have been a sexy signing! Expect him to go to Barca or Real Madrid at some stage and really kick on. Will forever annoy me he won't do it at Anfield

DonRafa Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Very happy with this, I think he'll be a big success for us
windy city red Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 out of curiosity, is aaron lennon faster than pennant? running with the ball i mean...
Guest baboo Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Thanks for the update, do you mind if I ask if this is from a good source?
