jimmylibel Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 A young Boca midfielder, looks f***ing brilliant Defensive midfielder? So they'll be going from having no defensive midfielders to having 3? Good old Real, everything in moderation!!!
Leo No.8 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Surely UEFA should put an end to this business of candidates announcing they have signed certain player without their clubs consent. Why are they allowed to carry on like this? They must be contradicting UEFA regulations...
Maldini Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Defensive midfielder? So they'll be going from having no defensive midfielders to having 3? Good old Real, everything in moderation!!! He plays a bit like Xabi, good passer
Diarmuid Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Gago has been compared with Redondo a fair bit, take what you want from that.
Gilps Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 First Fred, then Gago South American names ain't what they used to be.
chrisbonnie Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 if i was a madrid fan, i woudlnt vote for that president elect due to him saying he Emerson, that chap is absolutly rubbish, for starters he looks like a dodgy indian chef and second of all ,who actually told him he can play football? he`s s***!!!
R A Softlad Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 if he wins the elections You'd be happy if it was Emerson, Lake and Palmer...
Leo No.8 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 (edited) if milan are relegated then kaka's probably fair game. Suppose so - but it is a strange thing to do sign a 5-year contract whilst the outcome is still looking like them being relegated. I saw it as him being young and willing to give them the one season in Serie B it would take for them to get back up... Edited July 3, 2006 by Leo No.8

I saw it as guaranteeing his release if they are relegated for a set fee, while at the same time upping his wages in case they aren't. But then again I'm an idealist By the by, Kaka's not that young, he was 24 last April. Edited July 3, 2006 by jimmylibel
Leo No.8 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Myself, I'd be happy to stay at Milan even if they went down. They are one of the best clubs in Europe, and you'd have a laugh taking the p1ss in Serie B for a season!

Not saying I disagree with you mind.
Ronnie Whelan Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 (edited) I'd have Zambrotta. Emerson is f***ing rubbish. Completely over-rated player and wouldnt lace Momo's boots. Incidentally, when is the election? Edited July 3, 2006 by Ronnie Whelan
Ronnie Whelan Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Yesterday. Grand. And Calderon won. MADRID, July 3 (Reuters) - Former director Ramon Calderon was named the new president of Real Madrid on Monday the day after claiming a narrow victory in a chaotic election campaign. The 55-year-old lawyer immediately promised a bright future for the club, saying that he would constuct a winning project led by Italian coach Fabio Capello and former Real player Predrag Mijatovic. 'I want to represent all the fans and excite them by putting together the best possible team,' Calderon told the Spanish television station Antena 3. 'We will start this very afternoon with Fabio Capello in charge as I promised. He will arrive this evening and start working with Mijatovic to contruct the new team that will be capable of winning a trophy next season.' Capello, who led Real to the league title in 1997, said he was intending to stay put at Juventus after taking the Italian side to a second successive Serie A title in May. During the election campaign Calderon also said he would sign Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Chelsea winger Arjen Robben and that he was close to bringing AC Milan's Brazil midfielder Kaka to the club. Asked if the promised signings and that of Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy would now happen, Calderon replied: 'It seems so. We want to get them here as soon as possible so that we can start the pre-season with them. 'We also need to decide which players will be leaving the club...The future of Real Madrid will be brilliant.' Calderon was named president by the club on Monday after the election result was left in doubt because of confusion over the validity of the postal vote. 'The decision was made due to the fact that we are unlikely to have a decision over the legality of the postal vote in the near future and in order to allow the club to function properly and try to build a new era of sporting success,' a club spokesman told a news conference at the Bernabeu. Calderon, who joined the Real board in 2002 under former president Florentino Perez, gained 246 votes more than rival candidate Juan Palacios and 1,642 more than Juan Miguel Villar Mir. The other two candidates, former president Lorenzo Sanz and lawyer Arturo Baldasano, trailed well behind in the poll. Approximately 42 percent of the 66,355 club members who were entitled to vote attended Sunday's poll in person. A judge provisionally suspended the postal vote on Friday after Calderon and other candidates raised concerns over the lack of guarantees to ensure its legitimacy. It is not yet clear if the judge will allow the postal votes, which the media estimate could be as many as 10,500, to be counted. If they are, they could change the result of the election. Calderon is the club's fourth president this year, following Florentino Perez, Fernando Martin and Luis Gomez-Montejano. He joined the Real board at the invitation of Perez in January 2002 and remained there when the construction magnate resigned in February this year. Just in case anyone else is as in the dark as I.

Leo No.8 Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Until it is discovered at the end of next season that they have still been nobbling refs and they start season 2007/8 in Serie C. Berlusoni will never attempt to win anything if he can buy it instead. At that rate - they could end up in my Sunday League. Playing in the San Siro...
Nerik Posted July 4, 2006 Posted July 4, 2006 Italian media now claiming that Capello will be resigning from Juve later today to take up the Real job.
