Ostrich Man Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 shouldnt have stuck his arm up....dozy f*****...all his fault.
Gilps Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Australia being bitter about a sporting loss? Who would've thought it? See they've coveniently forgotten about the stone wall penalty they should have had given against them at 1-1 in the Japan match. With a second yellow due for the man who went on to score heir second.
McBain Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 they've done more in the world cup than england have. for a team looking to win the trophy, they have been an embarressment. We're sh*t The aussies are sh*t
RP Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Aussies lost in the 2nd Round, England have made the Quarter Finals. How have the Aussies done better than Engalnd?
Gilps Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Aussies lost in the 2nd Round, England have made the Quarter Finals. How have the Aussies done better than Engalnd? They, um, beat Japan. In the last minute. When they should've been 2-1 and a man down.
Guest Aussie_Red Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I find it hard to get wound up by many things, but these millions of bandwagon jumping know-nothing-but-pretend-to-know-everything Australians are just fantastic. They all keep sensationalising about being cheated and how they deserve to still be in it and how Lucas Neil is a national hero who deserves all of the gold in the land and a Qantas jet full of kangaroo meat. That Grosso dive is going to be the fecking Australian version of the 'hand of god' for the next four years now, god forbid they actually manage to qualify for the next cup. And here's the heroic Sir Tim 'forehead crease' Cahill on the television again moaning about the refereeing decisions. I find that Ironic, given that he deserved a straight red (while being on a yellow) for that definite penalty vs Japan. And the 'socceroos' deserved nothing more from the Italian match. I don't care if Grosso dived, the Australians had 60% of possession and only had four half decent goal attempts. This match was nothing more but karma for Mr.Hiddink after his last encounter with the Italians. From my perspective, the soccervegemites had a good spirited run in the cup, but it's now being spoilt by this inescapable persistant whinging.
cochyn Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 From my perspective, the soccervegemites had a good spirited run in the cup, but it's now being spoilt by this inescapable persistant whinging. They did well to get out of the group stage, given the opposition. Certainly gave Brazil something to think about during their game.
Cooldude Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 It's been a couple of days but the headlines are still with us whinging about it FFS, it's embarrassing. No one cares what Anthony LaPagllia thinks of the penalty
intense enigma Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 (edited) It was obstruction Agreed. It's a pity it was in the box and a pen was the correct decision imo Edited June 30, 2006 by intense enigma
elmer dinkley Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 It wasn't a dive. Look what Neil does with his right hand as he goes past him...
fyds Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 No one's bitter. Yes, we lost in a painful manner, but Italy had nothing against us. We just lacked the experience on the big stage and didn't really have one world class player on the pitch. Kewell's by far our only world class player and he was injured and even if he played, not many of us expected to beat Italy.Whinging non-poms! I wanted you to win but Neill was a prat - Lucatoni had proved beyond all reasonable doubt he couldn't score in front of the goal nevermind from an angle. Agreed. It's a pity it was in the box and a pen was the correct decision imoIf you agree then you're wrong. In or out of the box 'Obstruction' = indirect free kick.

Lee W Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 (edited) There was a great line in The Times apparently, about the contrast between how the Italians and Australians approach football. "The Italian method is pessimism. If you asked them if the glass was half-empty, they would say it was poisoned. If you questioned the Aussies, they would ask if it was a free bar." Skillz Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 For some reason we are being labelled whingers. I live here and dont see that. All i saw was shock and devastation. We are a very young nation when it comes to football but i bet any country would be devastated losing like that. PS i do not blame the ref for the pen because in real time it looked like one and Lucas Neill was stupid for committing himself like that (must acknowledge his outstanding performances up to that point!). The point that needs to be made is the timing of the decision. If it happened 30min in and we couldnt score, fair enough. For me i was just starting to celebrate because i was convinced we would go to xtra time, make changes, run them of their legs and score a winner. Then we lost. In the last 10 seconds! It hurt.
L19red Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 as much as i cant stand the italians, the day Australia do well in football we might as well pack up. In fact I'll go further than that. Any county who calls Football "soccer" should automatically be banned from Fifa.Aussies? OUT!Yanks? Get OUT!Canadians, you as well, dont let the door catch your a***.Who else?

ozziecazzie Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 What irks me more than anything was the mass pile on Grosso for "winning" the penalty by the Italian players......supports the dive theory IMO
