Sion Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) To be fair to Simao wasn't he on the plane ready to come to us when Benfica changed their mind? I'm sure he has just as much passion, maybe more as the likes of Kromkamp or Agger. It would be disrespectful to Benifca and their fans if he came out and said he wants to leave for Liverpool. What if we don't bid?, what if we get outbid? what if a deal falls through? He's then stuck at a club where he knows he isn't wanted and he doesn't want them. That's the kind of thing you would expect of C.Ronaldo... Edited June 28, 2006 by Sion
Sion Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I'd prefer SWP to Simao, although we all know the likelihood of Chelsea selling to us...

Montse Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Just a rehash of old poo but here it is anyway... 29 June 2006RAFA GETS GO-AHEAD TO MAKE A SIMAO BID LIVERPOOL have been given the green light by Benfica to make a fresh bid for Portuguese World Cup star Simao Sabrosa. And in a further boost to Reds boss Rafael Benitez, Djibril Cisse claims he still wants to join Marseille despite breaking his leg. Liverpool agreed a £7m fee with Benfica for Simao on transfer deadline in August only for the Portuguese club to pull the plug on the move. Advertisement Now Simao, 26, says Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira has told him he can go and he has set his heart on leaving Portugal. Valencia are also keen on the talented wide man who had an illfated spell at Barcelona. Simao said: "It's a good sign that the president will open the door for me if a serious offer comes in. I would like to play in a different league and whether that will be returning to Spain or going to England, I do not know." Benitez will be alerted by Simao's comments, particularly because his attempts to sign Brazilian Daniel Alves have stalled because of Sevilla's £10m asking price. The Spaniard, who is set to offload Bruno Cheyrou to Rennes, will also be heartened by Cisse's declaration that he wants to move to Marseille. Cisse, who broke his leg on the eve of the World Cup, said: "I want to play for Marseille. They are the club in my heart that I supported as a boy." Mirror mirror on the wall, who spouts the most crap of them all? For my 2 penneth I can see Benfica wanting more than £10m for Simao and us going through the same malarkey as we have last year and with Seville this year
kacangpool Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 yeah mirror always reflects a most distorted view.
Benitez Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 couple mentions on sports.es website, suggesting Carl Medjani is a player Espanyol are considering. (Paco's new team).

Maldini Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 If so Espanyol's board will cancel the deal as they feel Medjani isn't worth a world record £60m fee
Guest GeCk0 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Rubbish. Medjani is boss in Footie Manager 2006

Serko Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Liverpool have set their sights on World Cup stars Hatem Trabelsi and Dirk Kuyt. (Daily Express) Valencia defender Fabio Aurelio is set to sign for Liverpool on a free transfer. (The Times)
Guest Highlander Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 No club will go near Trabelsi because of his knee's apparantly, that's why he's in his late 20's and still there.
Serko Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Trabelsi would be on a free transfer, so depending on his wage demands it could be worth the gamble. However we don't need a new rightback unless kromkamp does move back to holland.
Cooldude Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Why on god's earth would we need Trabelsi when we already have the best right back in the country? The tabloid should do their homework first before making up stories
Guest 7777 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 If the Trabelsi deal is true, Rafa pulls off another genius stroke. A cracking player as cover for Stevie Finnan that comes on a free. Meanwhile allowing the £4.5 million rated Dutch Right back Kromkamp to go in the other direction = more funds for Dirk Kuyt/Pennant/A. Another There were whispers yesterday that Trabelsi was at Melwood and all of a sudden it appears in the paper that we are interested and he is on a free. Smoke no fire without and all that. Will be interesting to see how much we get for Kromkamp if he does infact go in the opposite direction.
charlie clown Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 The Trabelsi and Kuyt story is in the Guardian this morning as well. Alomng with a load of guff about the Alves deal stalling and money being spent only on Kut or Alves, not both. Because, obviously, they cover the same positions.

Err, your typo has just offended the dutch community, as "kut" means c*** in dutch... Also handy for those making banners
