New Stadium - No go!?

Just heard him say that he expects the Alves deal to be completed in the next day or so but more importantly and worrying is that he mentioned the new stadium is likely to be canned due to investment not being found. Not sure how reliable he is with his info or is this mere speculation.

If we can't find suitable investment then we will be a f*cking joke.

He's an idiot. Probably read it somewhere on the web and passed it off as his own info.

But what's worrying is that he says the Alves deal will be completed soon. Kiss of death If I ever heard one.

And how will we be a joke if we don't get investment? Have you ever tried to get someone to invest a shedload of their cash into a football club for not much return? Or should we just sell up to any arl gangster with a bit of spare cash and put the future of the club in doubt?

there was a thread on TLW last week saying the stadium was no go but it was not taken too seriusly, although two different posters had heard the same thing.

to be honest I wouldn't be surprised

Beats me why every bit of gossip is taken seriously. No news must mean bad news in some people eyes.

How deos our fianancial situation change if we decide not to go ahead and develop another stadium?

I read somewhere that Anfield capacity could be increased to 55000.

I think Beacroft is a complete t**

BUT

after being with Radio Merseyside & Radio City Sport for 15 years(?) I 'd be suprised if he didn't have some contacts or sources about the club, although I don't think he'd be anywhere near the 'up to date/in the know' current profile of say Bascombe.

He knows nothing. He hears the same gossip from Journos that all the other "sources" do.

He is considered a reliable source by KT posters.

I know this has been debated to death on this forum but is it not possible to buy the houses on both flanks and develop from there?

Don't we own most of them already?

Which stand would we knock down first, Main stand ?

What would that make our capacity for a season ? 25-30k ?

Where would we house the boardroom, changing rooms, offices that are currently in the main stand bearing in mind the other stands are occupied for corporate stuff.

How many seasons work would be involved if we did that piecemeal , 2, 3 ?

Go through the planning process again ? add 2 years for that, minimum

It's not a case of just adding 15,000 more seats, it's about updating the facilities, especially the corporate side of things which is where a lot of the extra money will come from, and we just don't have the space to expand that at Anfield. We're penned in.

I have contacts in the city planning office and one or two of the companies dealing with the build, they were all put on alert for a start a few weeks ago, all the creases are being ironed out of the plans as we speak, although only those close to Parry and Moores know anything about the investment there is good reason to believe the stadium will go ahead.

You are spot on regarding the extra revenue from a new stadium, it is reported that for every pound the ordinary punter puts in to the game the corporate put in 100 Also ... although the cost of the build has risen it is still cheaper to build from new. The time scale to redevelop Anfield could take up to 10 years the way the city planners work and during that time we would have a reduced capacity as work is done to the seperate sections.

Very true, but its still a possibility. If we do the centenary first and put the boardroom, changing rooms and offices in it, we would then be free to do the opposite side. If this was planned for next close season, quite a lot of the work could be done during that time. Obviously a lot of plannig would be needed.

Do you not think the club have already exhausted every possible way of staying at Anfield?

This was my initial question if you look back. Im sure they have looked at every possible angle, however if the new stadium plans are in doubt then they have to look back at the redevelopment plans.

But the new stadium plans aren't in doubt. People are just getting carried away again because there is no news. That doesn't mean nothing is happening, I'm sure things are still moving along.

I am yer cheeky get. Working on a project at the moment to get some f*ckin investment!!

I just can't believe for one moment that LFC couldn't get the investment to build a new stadium outright. Just don't see it all. I'm sure many investers would jump at the chance.

The biggest problem is the location of the new build and its associated side effects i.e. concerned local 'authorities', be that NWDA or anyone else for that matter.

I still think it will go ahead - it's too important for the area to miss out on.
