Guest Kev Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 ...yep, he f***ed up big time, just seen the highlights
Hassony Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 and he thought he had a chance of the final HAHAHAHA
anny road Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 f***ing genius had it coming after Highbury all those years back the useless t***
Earl Hafler Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 That Croat could have been sent off twice. He wrestled Viduka to the ground in the first half and Poll waved play on !
RafaShanks Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Serves him right for always wanting to be the centre of attention. Couldn't have happened to a nicer t***!!!
Guest Kev Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 and he thought he had a chance of the final HAHAHAHA He was one of five being considered a pretty well clued up website reckoned.
anny road Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 no more chat shows now eh Tring boy and he missed two stick on pens
Herbie von Smalls Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 how come emerton got a (second) yellow for a relatively innocuous handball down the right flank, yet the croatian handling the ball for the penalty got off scot-free?
anny road Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 how come emerton got a (second) yellow for a relatively innocuous handball down the right flank, yet the croatian handling the ball for the penalty got off scot-free? emertons wasnt innocuous but by default they are the same crime, hand ball in dangerous positions, by the rule it HAS to be deliberate yellow for both
Knox_Harrington Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 how come emerton got a (second) yellow for a relatively innocuous handball down the right flank, yet the croatian handling the ball for the penalty got off scot-free? Thought that deserved a second yellow. Think that the Croatian has given away the penalty in a bloody stupid way can be deemed enough as well.
Guest Kev Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Just imagine though if Simunic scored a late winner after the second yellow card. There would have been uproar

Think that the Croatian has given away the penalty in a bloody stupid way can be deemed enough as well.aye, not quibbling the fact it was a booking, but the consistency of the ref-ing. it was almost as if poll was deeming (effective) time-wasting as being more grievous than handling in the box.
Zoob Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 What made the whole thing even more comical is that I have no idea why he disallowed the goal Australia scored in the very final seconds (if anything it looked like it could have been another Pen to Australia had it not gone in). And then it was as if he has suddenly remembered that he should have sent Simunic off already, so decided better late than never...
Guest Kev Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Was desperate for it to happen. Australia would have called for the match to have been replayed at least. It would have provided a massive headache for FIFA. I still reckon that his assistants and the fourth official should have brought this to his attention.

And then it was as if he has suddenly remembered that he should have sent Simunic off already, so decided better late than never... He blew up for a penalty, Australia scored, realised he was too hasty with the whistle so he decided to do a 'Clive Thomas' and pretend it was full time. The third yellow and red to Simunic was the result of dissent and nothing to do with realising the previous error. i don't think there would be any ground for appeal in that instance. I honestly don't know what would have happened, this is FIFA after all. A winning goal is scored by a player who should not have been on the pitch !!! Would there have been grounds for Australia to sue Poll/FIFA ? Edited June 22, 2006 by Kev
Guest elvispelvis2000 Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 (edited) there was an fa cup game a couple of years ago (may have been sunderland) where one of the playeers got 2 yellows and during substitution confusion didnt go off the pitch. cant remember what happened but i think the team with too many players won. anybody shed any more light Edited June 22, 2006 by elvispelvis2000
SkippyjonJones Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 tranmere with Aldridge in charge. player got booked for a second time and was subbed off before the ref realised that he should have been sent off.tranmere continued with 11 men. I think.
Herbie von Smalls Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Would there have been grounds for Australia to sue Poll/FIFA ?i'd say not. unless it could be proven poll acted deliberately (and criminally) the federation is bound by the laws of fifa. if a ref puts the ball in the net the goal stands. he would be disciplined, but retrospective action wouldn't be taken.

What odds Mike Riley to score for the Mancs against us at Old Trafford next season?
Earl Hafler Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Shearer with the joke ! What have Croatia and Graham Poll got in common ?Neither is going into the last 16.
aka Dus Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 As Dunphy said on the telly. "Poll is a fat clown. A fat clown for all to see." Regardless of what FIFA online said, there will have been an assesor at that game and Poll is finished at this world cup. As for the idea of an a national association suing FIFA for a referees mistake is the fast lane to mentaltown.
