Announcement due just as they kick off against the Czechs

Italy's football federation will announce on Thursday the names of any clubs and individuals to be charged over allegations of match-fixing.

President Guido Rossi said the FIGC would make an announcement after the stock market closes at 1630 BST.

Any clubs charged face trial at a sports tribunal in Rome next week and could face bans, fines, relegation or be stripped of any trophies.

Champions Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina have been investigated.

The verdict will coincide with the end of Italy's crucial World Cup match against the Czech Republic.

Italy need at least a draw against the Czechs to guarantee a place in the knock-out phase.

Thirteen of Italy's 23-man World Cup squad play for the four clubs that have come under scrutiny.

Separate criminal prosecutions could follow the FIGC trial which is expected to deliver its verdicts between 7 and 9 July - the weekend of the World Cup final.

R5 are claiming that if found guilty Juve will be relegated to the lowest division, AC Milan to the second division with two other clubs facing huge fines.

If Inter play it clever this summer (which probably means it won't happen) and don't go splashing out on players before the outcome of the investigations they could pick up a few bargains and up the Italian quota in the team.

so a few of the Italian players could be relegated whilst on the pitch today. It would be interesting if they found out at half time

Not to mind being relegated, a few of them could be directly charged. Supposed to be a few 'big names' involved.

Said players might not all be playing for the Italians in that match either. :hmm:

Radio 5 are stating that the announcement wont be made until 5.30pm, when the Italian Stock Exchange closes.

5.35pm

So who's relegated?

What's the odds that the relative teams, Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina only get fined. They still probably wield too much power to suffer any sort of relegation punishment.

I'd be surprised if Juve escapes relegation

Don't think we'll get a decision on who's relegated today, just hear the name of the clubs who will be indicted. Along with the players who will also be charged.

The two main charges... one of them carries a MINIMUM penalty of having points docked next season, and the more serious of the two carries a MINIMUM penalty of relegation. Juve could be in deep trouble here.
