Just felt awful for the poor guy. Hope he recovers fast enough to play some part in this world cup.

Whatever happened with him and LFC at the end - he was our shining light for years/ worked his butt off for us.

Annoys me when fellow Liverpool supporters have a dig at players who have left the club. In my opinion it's the fact that we applaud and welcome back ex players that sets us apart from many fans.

 

Smicer when he was injured got all my sympathy.

 

I don't wish Owen bad luck, but I don't really care how he's doing now either.

 

Now the likes of Smicer, Hamann (if he leaves for example) on the other hand....

I agree, he left Anfield so hopefully his injury is as serious as we hope and his leg has to be amputated, that will go some way to making me feel even the the horrible, wicked things that he has perpetrated against us loyal, decent and fair fans. Hopefully, his mental state will deteriorate and he will end up a wife beating drunk (possibly including a spell in prison). From there perhaps suicide would be an option? Let's hope so!!

p.s. come on Stevie and Carra! You can do it! Just don't mention your shirt being set on fire on live national t.v. There are some people that seriously need to grow up on this forum, revelling in the misfortune of one of the best players to pull on our shirt over the last ten years is just petty and childish. For what it's worth, my opinion is that if he has done his cruciate then Owens game will degenerate so much that we could well see him retire in the next 1-2 years. Why ANYONE would take pleasure in that is really beyond me.

I'd certainly wish him all the best in his recovery; I was disappointed by the way Owen left, but still wouldn't harbour any ill will to him.

 

I do find it interesting though, that every team Owen plays in looks to have a lack of movement in the final third.

 

I don't think Owen does a great deal of unselfish running, which holds the team as a whole back. I'm not at all sorry Michael didn't return; it seems that everywhere he goes he scores goals but the team underperform and labour.

No problem with the people who don't really care, but as for the people who are actually happy he is injured - well, I hope you suffer the exact same injury as him, but just a little worse.

 

Anyone who can still hold some pathetic grudge against a non Liverpool fan who cost us nothing, gave us 7 fantastic years before realising his dream to play abroad (and us getting £8m into the bargain) is just an idiot.

First off, I'm truly gutted for the lad. He gave me many a great memory when he donned the red shirt and I still don't think the full story has come out of exactly how he came to leave Liverpool or how much the club really wanted to keep such a high earner. At times like this I'd like to see the whole transfer fee business scrapped as this notion of Owen somehow oweing us a £25 million transfer fee and therefore screwing us doesn't sit easily with me at all. He owed us nothing but the time contracted to him, all the while he took the wages he gave his all and we were compensated for the time remaining. It wasn't as much as we'd have liked but slavery was abolished many years ago, except in my industry of course. I hope he makes a full recovery and fulfills as much of his talent as possible. I'll still give him a cheer when he comes back to Anfield, even if I'm the only one in a stadium full of embittered old husks holding grudges and wallowing in schadenfraude. Good luck Michael and thanks for all the goals, trophies and great memories.

I'd say in his last year at Anfield Owen's movement in the final third was brilliant Lee. You could really see the influence of Rush in the runs Michael was making, unfortunately the team wasn't performing well enough to exploit them but the movement was definitely there. Perhaps he didn't close down quite as much as Rushie but he did still work for the team.

 

I haven't seen much of his games with madrid or Newcastle so couldn't comment on those. For England he's obviously been off colour in the 3 games preceding his injury but at Euro 2004 he actually created many of Rooneys better chances through intelligent and diligent movement off the ball. He got little credit for it but he did it nonetheless.

Owen could have come back to us but didn't - through his own fault and / or miscalculation. His recent interview, mentioned above, had a clear sub-text of I'm great, me, I don't go running around to create my own chances, the rest of the team should be serving them up to me and there is a better chance of that happening when a Man Utd player replaces a Liverpool player.

 

I wish him him no harm at all but I wish our own player, Djibril Cissé, a speedier recovery - for more than one reason, of course.
