Was wacthing 'tory, tory, tory' on BBC2 last nite... It is a three part series, concluded last night discussing her fall from grace due, started by the poll tax when she had become so up her own ar'se that she would not listen to anyone else about anything.

Was only a kid when she was around and I was brought up to rate her just behind hitler, but slightly in front of the devil as all scouse kids where.

But f'ck me, she had some bottle like didnt she. Does anyone think she did anything right ?

Things I think she did right

Privitisation - The series talked about the sale of BT and the fact that at that time you sometimes had to wait 10 weeks for a phone line to be installed and the equipment was so out of date that if it rained your lines would crackle. Look at what we have now, with consumer choice, look how quick broadband had taken hold because of competiton etc

House ownership - Cobs (maggies biggest fan) who works with property - Oh the irony

Trade unions - Scargill said he would rewind the years of thatcherism, no one elected him yet he thought he could decide how the country was run along with all the othe trade unions at the time.

Economy - She made the difficult changes that have resulted in the economy we have got now. Everyone suffered in the 80's, I remember me mum and dad being on the dole for 3 cos their factories got shut down, we had nowt for years but now I still agree with what was done. The next generation can now work for the goverment for £50,000 a year telling people how to clean up dog poo, kids from working class families now dont have to work in pits, on docks or in factories anymore and then spend their lives in council houses.

All the changes she implemented she did against huge resistance, sometimes public opinion was even against the changes. But she did it, and was proved right in the long term with the things I mentioned above.

I cant make my mind up whether I like her, everytime I think I do, the image of my dad throwing me out teh house if I said I did comes into my mind.

Does ANYONE on the forum think she is OK or do you all think she is a witch ?
