sources of great disappointment

what have proven to be disheartening revelations that spoiled the innocence/magic/naivety of being young?

 

some of mine:

 

finding out radio station jingles are usually recorded in the states and aren't even unique to the station you first heard them on.

'hutch' being a wife-beater in real life

with adult independence come certain unexpected responsibilities... and lots of bills
