ambush marketing my a***. for that the cameras would need to be focussing on the 'bavaria' logo repeatedly throughout the game to get the brand exposure. whereas of course they're far too busy doing close-ups on the adidas teamgeist official FIFA partner match ball.

one could argue that other fans in the stadium might be inclined to buy 'bavaria' having seen the marketing.

it's all a farce. a colleague of mine used to do stewarding duties at the oval cricket ground. during some mickey mouse international trophy he said the paranoia of 'ambush marketing' extended to sticky tape being placed over any logo throughout the ground (and facilities) - including over a kettle in the players' area and over a manufacturer's name in the lift.

on another note, if i were choosing to display my patriotism, i certainly wouldn't carry, wear or wave anything that would give a company/corporation free advertising. i can understand people having st george's cross flags, but ones with 'jjb sports' or worse still 'the sun' emblazoned on them irks me. those bavaria shorts aren't much better.
