I think I must've missed something but I've noticed in a few games in the world cup that referees have played advantage after a foul but when an advantage didn't accrue ( the fouled player lost the ball or whatever) the referee blew up and brought the play back to allow a free kick to be taken, similar to what would happen in rugby.

Since when has this been part of the game? Did I miss some rule change?

It may be 'new' but it was supposed to happen - don't think it's 10-15 seconds after though - usually within 3 or 4 seconds.

I think that is about the only good thing I have seen from the refs. It would be great to see it applied in the English league.

Another ridiculous yellow today as Ronaldo is carded for "scoring" after the whistle for offside. It's not like play is held up as there are dozens of ball persons around the pitch.

I like the zero tolerance attitude on time-wasting to be honest. Get the game moving. The players know the rules - once the whistle goes, leave the ball alone and let the opposition play.
