chiliking Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Garcia wants Villa rather than Kuyt and Defoe.(who would't) Wonder how much Garcia knows about transfer targets.http://home.skysports.com/worldcup/article...+for+Villa+move Garcia is in fact suggesting that Villa is a target. Is he affordable? He would be like £25M, but if the player wants to move here, that will surely influence the cost.
Guest Cally77 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Not sure he'd do well in our league, he's very similar to Morientes imo.
Benitez Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 course he'd be a great addition, Luis is saying what most would about a player of his calibre! After the season he had helping VCF get back intot he CL, doubt he's going anywhere else soon!
richt71 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Not sure he'd do well in our league, he's very similar to Morientes imo. He's more a Owen at his prime type player than Nando for me mate. A top class finisher and one of the best in world footie last year!
chiliking Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 Two years ago, we were all worried that those Chelsea B4stards Lampard and Terry would mess with Stevie's head. They nearly pulled it off. Wonder what Garcia and Alonso can do in regards to Villa, or Torres for that matter. EC and Wc are the only times when players are out of their club or agents sight.

I don't think he has the pace of an Owen in his prime. Great for la liga, but I just have doubts that he could handle the physical side of our league.
McBain Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I dont think he's suggesting Villa is a target. Just that he'd like him to be Just as Carra would no doubt like Mikey Owen to be
Guest 3an86 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Great player but we wouldn't pay the price for him.

Guest Kev Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 It's weird that a player should come out and say such a thing. It makes me wonder if there is more to it. But then again I do like conspiracy theories.

It's odd that Garcia compared him directly to a player most people reckon will be at Anfield next season (Kuyt) and pretty much said he (Villa) was better...
Sion Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Makes me more inclined to believe the Kuyt story to be honest. Sounds like Garica moaning because the Kuyt deal is close, and he wants his mate Villa.
Guest Cally77 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 (edited) Or maybe he's just giving his honest opinion in an interview... Not every comment made by players and managers has a transfer agenda behind it... Edited June 18, 2006 by Cally77
Guest TheGaffa Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Didn't Garcia say the same last year regarding El Moro before he'd signed??? Although I think we'd been heavily linked with him, unlike Villa.
Clay Davis Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Makes me more inclined to believe the Kuyt story to be honest. Sounds like Garica moaning because the Kuyt deal is close, and he wants his mate Villa.sorry but i think thats b******s i agree with Cally - i think he's simply saying it because of what hes seen of him with Spain.
crisps Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 lets hope garcias tappin up is as good as his important goals
Swipe Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 sorry but i think thats b******s i agree with Cally - i think he's simply saying it because of what hes seen of him with Spain. I don't think its any sort of ploy orchestrated for the club, but its a bit odd for Garcia to say that, if, as we read, Kuyt is on his way here. He'll come here knowing a team-mate has already compared him unfavourably to another striker.
stressederic Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Is there no also the tiny possiblity that the actual conversation/interview perhaps followed the line of: Journo: So Luis do you enjoy playing alongside David Villa? Luis: Yes he's a great player. Journo: You'd like to see him at Anfield? Luis: Of course, I'd like to play alongside any top players at Liverpool and David is a top player, and I know him well from the spain team. Journo: Ok then. Luis pleads for Benitez to sign Villa, and claims other strikers aren't as good. Luis: Say what?

Kuyt in particular. Unless he was completely misquote he mentioned these other strikers by name, and said he'd rather have Villa come to Liverpool. Thats only reason why i thought it odd. Not saying there's anything in it, mind.
Jeff guitar Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I don't think it's any secret that Villa was way at the top of the the clubs wanted striking targets. Targetting and getting are different matters of course.
shanks59 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 (edited) If Rafa was interested in Villa, surely he would have used the Nando deal as leverage ? Edited June 19, 2006 by shanks59
Jeff guitar Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Rafa is definitely more than interested in Villa according to a baldy fitness coach (second hand info). Nando's deal perhaps goes someway to healing relations between rafa and VCF.
IgPig Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Didn't Villa say he didn't want to come to Liverpool (something about not liking the beatles!) when he left Zaragoza for Valencia. Not sure why that would have changed 12 months later. Doesn't matter anyway, because he'd cost too much and with Spain looking like having a decent work cup with him up front that's not going to change.
chiliking Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 Maybe we have a decent amount of transfermoney after all. Surely, if we started our transfer window boldly, and bought Villa for 15-20 M, there's no way that Del Nido, aka he in the nest, would sell Alves to us for less than 12 M. But getting Del Nido/Alves matters out of the way first, then go for Villa. This is interesting..............and quite impossible Jeff: your second hand source, is he reliable?
