Mong. Go play for Israel if you want to wave their flag!

Hapoel Tel Aviv he plays for, maybe he is after a contract or something.

When I saw it I thought it might be some Rasta/Zion kind of thing, didn't realise he played there.

I guess in some ways you could say its a political statement but doesn't really look that big a deal does it?

love to see FIFA trying to prove he's making some big political gesture by waving a little flag of the country he plays his football in :D

so it would be ok for Owen hargreaves to wave a german flag if he scores for england?

fans couldn't hate him any more than they do, so why not!

Tell yer what, if Beckham waved a Spanish flag after he scores for England, he'd earn a few brownie points round 'ere ;)

yes of course it would.

No it would not. Why wave the flag of another country when your own country has won a game? I?m not suggesting such players be punished since they?re not breaking any rules, but supporters of their team should give him hell for promoting another country after such a good victory.

I'd be chuffed if Alonso pulled out a miniature "Momo is Boss" Mali flag when he scores.

Seriously though, mate, I can see where you are coming from with it being the Israeli flag and all but punishing him would look a bit heavy I think.

Assuming he didn't have the flag shoved down his shorts for just such an occasion, I'm assuming he got the flag from a fan in the crowd, in the same way Momo and Nando had their national flags on them when they went to pick up their medals in Cardiff.

Has "Lamps" been waving the white flag recently?

:applause:

I can't believe anyone would care about this enough to post about it. I think it's a pretty strange thing to do, but who knows what his motives were - nothing to say it was anything political. Perhaps he's just been made to feel very welcome in Israel and wanted to show his appreciation.

If he'd been playing in some other country (who, like Israel had not qualified for the WC) I'm sure people would find it equally surprising, but wouldn't be as strangely outraged as some people on here seem to be.
