It looks like Gerrard and Crouch

..with Lampard also on a caution it looks like Sven is prepared to risk the Rent Boy getting another caution which will rule him out of the first knock-out game against Germany/Ecuador.

So, if Sven reckons Gerrard is more important than Fat Frank, why the f*** does he persist in playing Stevie out of position ?

masy as well close this thread now, as Kahnee's sorted it in one

Who the f*** is masy ?

Or Kev, he sees it as worth taking the risk with Lamplard as he's indispensable, while he can get by without Crouch and Gerrard for the game against the flatpackers.

Fat Frank will trot about with his little T-Rex arms and keep doing his hard look as his shots balloon into the stands. There's more chance of me getting booked than him.

Ingerlund will win and assorted hacks will give their mate MOM and rework their opinion on the best English player to being no better than Carlton Palmer.

Then they can continue with no dirty Scousers in the team and when they get knocked out blame Gerrard for getting a booking that meant he had to be rested.

According to both the Beeb and ITV, all yellow cards are wiped after the group games. Someone's got their info wrong, somewhere.

But Gerrard, Crouchy and Lampard would still be suspended if they got another yellow card v's Sweden.

Eriksson's record in competitve games is excellent - that's all we should concern ourselves with.

Urban myth no. 2006

In qualifying, he has been reasonable. but in finals due to spineless substitutions he has turned wins into defeats.... Portugal, lost ..... France, lost........Brazil, lost........

We should concern ourselves with the fact that he has a team of great players, but can't make the players into a great team, as he refuses to make the big decisions whereby one of his favourites is dropped.

He still has the opportunity to either use a holding midfielder or play a 3-5-2, using England's strongest assets, but it's time for him to wake up and show his balls (not to the first Ulrika lookalike though!).

this is SO the best most accurate statement re Sven and England

Oddly enough I see similarities between England and Liverpool

Gerrard and Lampard = Gerrard and Alonso - both need a holding player so the CM=3

Crouch for England and Liverpool gets isolated = Crouch needs someone up close to him attacking midfielder or fellow striker

Solution a midfield 5 but to do that you either leave crouch isolated or you sacrifice a defender, I would go for the latter and play 352

Wrong interpretation I think.

If they get a (2nd) yellow card V Sweden, youll be banned from the next (Last 16) game.

But if you end the group games with only one yellow, it's wiped clear from the knockout games.

Exactamundo.

Yellow cards are wiped, but suspensions aren't.

he's actually indicating that crouch is more important than owen as well. expect crouch and rooney to start the last 16 game.

the misuse of gerrard is bewildering though. not one other manager at this world cup would restrict gerrard in the way that eriksson does.

There's a great line from Patrick Barclay on the Gerrard - Lampard pairing....

Week in, week out, this column - nothing if not patient - has stressed the requirement for a so-called holding midfielder. A full-time one, I mean, not Gerrard sitting in front of the back four, itching to get forward but unable to do so because the body language of Lampard, who is supposed to alternate with him, is often that of an outfield player in a coats-down game reluctant to take his turn as goalie.

England's best hope of winning the thing is that Lampard gets suspended, and then Carrick and Gerrard show how it's done in the next game...

... saying that... Sven would probbo revert to type anyway!

I agree - but doubt if the flatpacker will

and there was me thinking they'd be publicly at each other's throats & calling the manager all sorts

so you're calling them liars?
