I can see why Benitez is looking there. They look awesome, from back middle and front.

 

Its not just that they won 6-0. Its the manner that they won. They passed the ball really well and deserved it.

To be fair, Serbia & Montenegro (the former Yugoslavia) have always had a good pedigree, and they always have some quality players in their side, as they had yesterday. They also went into the tournament having qualified with the best defensive record in the qualifiers - they conceded once in about 12 games or so. You've got to respect that.

 

They did look shambolic though, although I think most teams would have crumbled against the Argies yesterday with the mood they were in. Simply awesome.

Fully expect Argentina to run rings around the Dutch but whether they can come away with three points is another question. But It would be interesting to see how they fare against a team like Italy, etc....sides who attack with intent and defend resolutely. They look fecking brilliant right now and seem to be the favourites to go all the way but like someone mentioned earlier, there's also a question of peaking too early..... like Brazil in 1982.

Brazil have not started playing yet, but their coach has some tough choices ahead. They have an easier route to the final than Argentina though.

This Argie team is the most balanced compact exciting international team I can remember seeing. Their is nothing missing from the team and the subs they can bring on.

That`s b****x. First off, S&M aren't nobodies, Holland only narrowly edged them out, and they qualified ahead of Spain. And secondly, you see mismatched teams playing each other every other week, yet you never see the stronger team play THAT well. They were f***ing brilliant, and it had little to do with S&M.

Serbia were arguably the better side second half against Holland. They certainly didn't roll over. They may lack quality but they kept going to 90 minutes.

 

Serbia's heads went when the third went in against Argentina.

so by that reckoning, what do you make of Paraguay and T&T? croatia and S&M are about the same level, yet brazil just beat them. Whats your point? Argentina are playing the best football, and look the most cohesive unit. Peaking too early is crap. This team looks awesome, and would be worthy winners.
