Huyton_Red Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 The three best central defenders in the premier league Carragher Ferdinand Terry Beckham right wing back, then he would HAVE to stay wideCole left wing backCarrck holdingGerrard and Lampard free in central midfield With Rooney and Crouch up front That team has everything and would win the world cup Neville is injured, we are through to the next round so TRY it against sweeden. England managers have been trying to fit square pegs into round holes with 4-4-2 at internation level for to long, hardly any of the very best national teams play with only two central midfielders any more £5 million a year that daft f'cker is on and he has not got a clue about tactics

Case Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I reckon Huyton is spot on. For once ..... Except drop jar jar and put Carson in at Cetre Back alongside Carra and Terry. Um Bongo. World Cup.
Gravy Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I reckon Huyton is spot on. For once ..... Apart from Lampard. Have Neville RWB when fit, Beckham in the middle with Gerrard and Carrick and Lampard on the fecking plane home the overrated tart.
Stevie H Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Apart from Lampard. Have Neville RWB when fit, Beckham in the middle with Gerrard and Carrick and Lampard on the fecking plane home the overrated tart. you'd play gary neville as a wing-back and beckham in a central midfield three? lunacy.
Gravy Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 you'd play gary neville as a wing-back and beckham in a central midfield three? lunacy. As much as I hate him, I really rate Gary Neville as a RB/RWB. He gets forward really well and purts a great ball in. Beckham could just as easily play the same role as Carrick.

Gravy Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Course he feckin couldn't he tackles like a woman. Unlike clogger Carrick you mean.
Murphman Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Unlike clogger Carrick you mean. There is a middle ground between Tommy Smith and Dale Winton you know.

fyds Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Beckham + tackling = Yellow Card. He can't tackle to save his life.

Beckham could just as easily play the same role as Carrick.neville would be comical as a wing-back. he can't run, he waddles. and how the hell could beckham play in defensive midfield? he can't a) tackle or b) play a short easy-ball game.
Puskas Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I've saying this for about 2 years now. England's strengths are at centre back and central midfield, so play as many centre backs and central midfielders as you can! Sven should have taken SWP as an option at right wing back. I assume that's Ashley Cole at left wing back? In which case I'd have Joe Cole ahead of Lampard (on current form) in central midfield.
Gravy Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 neville would be comical as a wing-back. he can't run, he waddles. How do you work that out? He can defend very well, gets down the wing and puts a great ball in. All essential for a good wing back.
Guest Cally77 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Too late now to be fiddling around with formations; they've only just worked out the 4-4-2.
beejay Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Beckham + tackling = Yellow Card. He can't tackle to save his life.My sentiment exactly, agree with the idea, but Beckhams too much of a glory boy and he'll be out of position too much and he cant defend for s***. Also with a 352 we will always be out numbered in midfield, whether it be against 4 or 5 midfielders, so I'm not really a fan.
Stevie H Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 How do you work that out? He can defend very well, gets down the wing and puts a great ball in. All essential for a good wing back.he's got no pace, his ball usage is rubbish, he couldn't possibly beat a man with the ball at his feet in a month of fridays and in your system he'd end up just knocking the ball square to beckham all the time.

Sorry, I'm not having that. I know he's a manc, but he's the best right sided defender in the country by a long way and puts a lovely ball in.
D.Boon Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Apart from Beckham at RWB i agree entirely. Dare i say it Mr Hargreaves would be decent there
Murphman Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Sorry, I'm not having that. I know he's a manc, but he's the best right sided defender in the country by a long way and puts a lovely ball in. You mean English defender presumably not 'in the country'. I feckin hope so because I wouldn't swap that ugly c*nt for Finan in a million years.

For what its worth, I think Neville is an average defender, over rated as a crosser, doesn't perform for England and has no pace.
