Crouch pulled up for goal Jun 16 2006

PETER Crouch's goal against Trinidad and Tobago was the centre of controversy when television replays showed he pulled Brent Sancho's dreadlocks as he won the header.

Crouch pounced in the 83rd minute after England had struggled to find a breakthrough against the Caribbean minnows.

At first glance it looked like a fair header from the 6ft 7ins Liverpool striker. But slow-motion replays clearly showed Crouch grab a handful of Sancho's hair and leap above him.

It stopped the Trinidad and Tobago defender from jumping to challenge for the ball.

Referee Toru Kamikawa missed the incident at the time and England went on to win 2-0 with a second goal from Steven Gerrard in stoppage time.

Crouch received a yellow card in the first match of the tournament against Paraguay and FIFA are expected to look into the incident against Trinidad.

Think that's the paper talking cr*p about FIFA investigating the incident... that would be setting a precedent that I'm fairly sure they'd be keen to avoid.

Certainly hope so, but Crouch does seem to be the focal point of a vendetta. If he's not being given yellow cards for "elbows" he's getting every goal he scores scrutinised beyond belief.

I thought Fifa had a "no retrospective action" or a "no video evidence" policy? Or is that just when it suits them.

saw the defender making a right fuss & chasing the ref up the pitch appealing, didn't we?

Little tugs & pushes happen all over the pitch all the time. To penalize every one of them would make American Football more free-flowing that real Football

Surely if he grabbed his hair and then jumped, he was helping the lad?
