Guest TheRedBull Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/20060616_080957Dev.html Djibril Cissé with the OM Cissé with Ribéry with the OM? (The Team) A one year loan with option to buy, the Olympic one of Marseilles and Liverpool agreed to make it possible Djibril Cissé to join the club of its heart the next season. According to the Team of Friday which reveals information, the signature of the player would intervene in a few days. Cissé currently rests in England, in its residence, after its operation of the leg following its fracture tibia-fibula undergone at the time of France-China (3-1), last friendly match of Blue before the World cup. The attacker will approach Marseilles then. It will take especially, initially, the direction of Saint-Raphaël, in the VAr, where it will begin his rehabilitation. Its absence of the grounds is estimated at four or five months. In 2004, for the same diagnosis, but in the left leg, Cissé had returned at the end of five months. This terrible wound of the one of the 23 Blue ones selected by Raymond Domemech for this World cup probably never called into question its transfer within the club phocéen. The OM would have been simply ensured, since this blows dealt by fate, that its unavailability would not exceed five months. Cissé will have to bear its troubles patiently by waiting until October. By then, international French will know if it will have the occasion, or not rejouer, as at the time of the match vis-a-vis with the UNFP, the sides of a certain Franck Ribéry strongly had a presentiment of in Lyon.
Guest Sabre Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Good news for Cisse - best possible solution for us?
Rico Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 (edited) Good for Cisse, maybe, but where does this leave us in terms of our strike force for next season? Obviously, a loan deal doesn't give us any cash with which to buy in a striker, and we don't retain Cisse to fill the role from Oct/November onwards. If anything, doesn't it leave us in a worse position? Better for him than dossing about in a team that "doesn't want him", but I don't think it helps us much, does it? Would Marseilles be paying his wages, at least? Edited June 16, 2006 by Rico

Huyton_Red Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 This is a good deal for everyone - if he had stayed here when he recovered in November he would hardly play. At marseille he will play and will play regulary from December onwards in the french league which is where the teams are that want to buy him. So we should have no problem getting decent money for him next summer. I am sure there wouldnt be a huge problem in Liverpool taking on a bit of debt to get two decent strikers in on the assumption we get decent money for ciise next summer.
Guest Cally77 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Good work Rick. Paving the way for two strikers I reckon.
RafaShanks Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Don't we pay some of the wages for loaned out players?

Swipe Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Why is Ribery mentioned in the same article? Is he off to Lyon?
G Richards Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 This is a good move for all concerned. Marseille are putting down a marker for Cisse, saying in effect, that even though he is injured now, they still want him. Being wanted will help Cisse to keep a positive attitude and it will assist in his recovery time. He will have something positive to aim for (i.e. get fit and play for Marseille, rather than get fit and hang around on the fringes at Liverpool).
Internationinteroperability Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Unless we somehow manage to get hold of two good strikers to replace Cissé, then I can't see this as a good deal. His rehabilitation went very well indeed with our doctors, so why send him back to France, when we could do with him in the squad? At least Marseille should pay his wages and 'promise' to buy him at the end of the season. Regardless of how many fans who think Cissé's s***, he did score almost 20 goals this season. Decent amount, and could he repeat it then he should stay.
Stevie H Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Why is Ribery mentioned in the same article? Is he off to Lyon? seems to imply that ribery fancies a move to lyon rather than elsewhere. which would be fine by me. i don't want the mancs to get him. And they will be paying his wages, or at least half, so that paves the way for us to bring in a replacement.
autumn319 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 watch out, dibril,if you don't score for marseilles, their supporters are gonna break your car .

Swipe Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Another good move by Rafa, if this happens. We can't sell him, but we can at least pave the way for a transfer - rather than waste our time and the players time.
RedMarauder Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Might give Flo-Po an opportunity until the January transfer window
johngibo YPC Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Don't we pay some of the wages for loaned out players? Every loan deal is negotiated differently. It depends on the benefits of the loaning club and the club recieving the player. Have you never played Champ Manager!!!
Guest Cally77 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Might give Flo-Po an opportunity until the January transfer window Lets hope not.
RafaShanks Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Might give Flo-Po an opportunity until the January transfer window No chance. He'll be gone as well. Clear those decks Rafa.
