Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 according to the bbc vote averaging 5.91/10!! Fat Frank even getting 6.08 Start giving Carra 10's people
Guest Jack Bauer Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I don't know where that's come from, he didn't do anything overly wrong.
_00_deathscar Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Not sure it's too unfair a rating. 5.91 --> 6 ... which is about right (i.e. average). How Lampard gets anything more than a 4, I do not know however.
Guz Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I don't know where that's come from, he didn't do anything overly wrong. Didnt do anything overly great either so an average 6 is about right I'd say.
Nebraska Red Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 he did all that was asked of him. hopefully that ugly g*t , Ferdinand, got a 1. he could not even pass the ball back to the goalie.
_00_deathscar Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Ferdinand got 6.40 (last I checked). I don't think Ferdinand should've gotten more than a 5 at best ... Terry saved his ars* quite a few times.

At least Owen got what he deserved, he was awful. the man is clearly unfit and should not be starting games. However, there is most likely a lack of objectivity in most of the voters. Beckham gets almost 7 for 1 cross, the only decent one he made in the whole game. his dead balls were atrocious at best.
_00_deathscar Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Beckham made 3 or 4 good crosses - three for Crouch; one of which he scored, one for Owen and another one where Rooney and Crouch played a one two to play Lampard in who fluffed it. HAving said that, he was poor otherwise - but 7 is a fair rating for BEckham I think.
fyds Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Lampard is the new Scholes - good at miss-timed tackles but otherwise mostly invisible.

Re Beckham, he deserved a 6 at best, he was average considering all the hype he gets and the fact he is the captain. His contribution to the game is neglible other than his ability to take every corner and free kick. FFS, why not give somebos=dy else a go as Beckham is getting predictable.
Paul B Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Carra did nowt wrong, but he wasn't Georgeous Gary so the press are honour bound to mark him down.
fred milne Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Not sure it's too unfair a rating. 5.91 --> 6 ... which is about right (i.e. average).I agree.
Falconhoof Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 How come Downing gets a higher rating than Gerrard ?
JohnnyH Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 (edited) I hate Neville and wish him many many boils on his a***, but he is a very good right back. Carra was played out of position and while his defensive play was fine (to be fair, they clearly spotted A Cole as the weak link and attacked down that side most of the time) Carra's getting forward was very poor. He would move into the attacking half and then stop, look around, and pass it backwards. Neville is very good at breaking forward and immediately putting in a good cross. It just stinks that Carra isn't in at centre back ahead of Ferdenand. I was surprised to see Sven actually make a good decision. England clearly didn't need to worry about been defensive down that wing so bringing on Lennon and putting Beckham to right back was actually a good decision. Changed the game. I tend to agree that had Neville been at right back, England would have been a lot better as an attacking force. They were never going to let in a goal down that flank though when Carra was on. sean Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I now know how Frank earns his reputation. The law of averages.Fact.
Stevie H Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 lampard is now a double embarrassment. not only is he hugely over-rated and contributes nothing if he doesn't score a deflected goal, but he's for some gods-known reason stopping england's best player from playing in his most effective position. sven has no cojones.
fyds Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I now know how Frank earns his reputation. The law of averages.Fact....and he can be so very average.
Guest Cally77 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 (edited) Didnt do anything overly great either so an average 6 is about right I'd say. What was you expecting like? If these England tossers don't like or appreciate our players, we should just pull them out. Edited June 16, 2006 by Cally77
Cobs Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 lampard is now a double embarrassment. not only is he hugely over-rated and contributes nothing if he doesn't score a deflected goal, but he's for some gods-known reason stopping england's best player from playing in his most effective position. sven has no cojones.he didn't stop Gerrard getting forward to score a cracker last night, did he? Last minute of the match, 1-0 up, where would you want a purely 'holding midfielder' to be? Was watching them specifically last night, Lampard did drop in behind Gerrard if he went forward - i think Stevie needs to be a bit more bullish and get himself forward more and on the ball. and for the record i'll happily state Lampard was crap last night but he wasn't alone. Far too many sub par performances across the team, at least Sven made some decent substitutions - for those of you who say he can't change it when it's not working....
Guest Cally77 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Wow! bringing Rooney and Lennon on, that's some tactical genuis. I wonder what he said to them before they went on "Errr, can yooo, sit in front of the defence"
Mike Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 the formation cripples both players.its only gerrards genius that allows him to rise above it on occasion.
Guest Cally77 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Can't you see that Erickson is clueless? QF at best.
Ripley Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Carragher should get 2 extra marks just for keeping his mouth tight shut during the national anthem. Ferdinand just seems not arsed against opponents like that. At least Terry can concentrate.
