Summit dodgy about this. Why are Pompey bidding that much for Defoe, a decent striker at best, and even more bizarrely, why are Spurs turning it down?

Who decides this? The man should be Rafa Benitez and the moneymen at Liverpool should do their best to match Rafa's valuation of the player. I didnt think Crouch was 'worth' £7m last year but we chased after him hard because (a) Presumably other options (Kuyt?) weren't availible and more importantly (b) Rafa identified him as a key to our premiership campaign. And it paid off.

 

If Rafa believes Defoe or any other player is going to be integral to his plans next year and is willing for a lot of money to spent (ie. so he may have to be a bit tighter elsewhere) then I couldnt give a f*** how much we spend.
