There was a class piece on Newsnight on BBC2 last night.

They had a reporter in Frankfurt doing the rounds with the English fans etc. Then they showed the English Bobbies arriving and meeting their German counterparts.

They were then outside a pub where a dozen or so English fans were gathered (not sure which clubs' shirts they had on, but they were blue) having a few beers when they spotted one of the Bobbies and the fans started chanting at him to sing......with that, he smiles and breaks into a bar of "We won it five times, In Istanbul, we won it five times". Class ! and to be fair the fans had a right laugh with him.

I'm putting everyone on half day as a homage to the WC :woohoo: - but they've cottoned on pdq seeing as they always get put on half day this time of year anyway...

...miserable sods...no interest whatsoever in it...

have to say that today i am like a kid on christmas eve.

I hadn't thought of it that way. ;)

It's the summer, it's a gorgeous day, it's Friday and in a few hours the World Cup starts (in Europe with civilised ko times) and there's wall-to-wall footie practically every day for a month.

Life is good. :)

I've put myself on the lowest percentage of working day possible whilst still pretending to show up.

Magic innit?

A footy tournament where you genuinely don't care who wins any particular match so long as it entertains.

Come on you...er...Everyone!

With all these football programmes that have been on this week, it is getting to somewhat of a frenzy I must say. :)

Missed out last night by two minutes on three tickets to the Paraguay game. :(

Great prog, although how they could place Bobby Charlton and Michael Owens goals outside the top 10 surprised me.

Enjoyed the Nobby Styles comment: ?he picked the ball up in the Unit?er, England half??

Good shout with the best goal, although Marradonna?s HOG effort should have shared joint first.

If ya fancy a bet, Graham Taylor on R5 has just tipped the Ozzies, USA and Switzerland to reach the final stages. He claims they are far better than most fans appreciate.

Might be worth a punt, but I?m sticking with my £20 on Italy to win.
