Get well soon Djibs, lad. Not sure whether you'd be here next season or back in France but either way i'm absolutely gutted for you. You've come back from this once and you'll do it again. Heres to a speedy recovery.

An open letter to Djibril Cisse....

Djibril - I hope you fully recover from the horrific injury you sustained last night while representing your country. This just prior to what I'm sure would have been one of the proudest moments of your life - playing in the World Cup Finals.

For what it's worth, you contributed to one of the proudest moments of MY life when you scored a penalty, with icy-cold nerve, in the high pressure final of the European Cup in Istanbul last year.

To see the club I love at the top of the European game after so many years of (relative) underachievment was almost too much to bear. In the best possible way.

And you did this just a few months after shattering, and almost losing your leg playing for the team I love - the team we all love.

You showed great courage to come back, you showed you had balls as big as melons to take that penalty kick. You showed skill and class to score in the Cup Final just weeks ago. In short, you have displayed bravery and you will do so again. I know it.

It's likely that had you got through the match unscathed last night that you'd have been on your way, back to France perhaps. These things happen - you were'nt our Manager's own purchase, you didn't set the fee, you were not always on top of your game, and you don't seem to have fitted into the style he wants to use. We trust our Manager, Djibril Above all we trust him - we know he will lead us back to glory after glory. It looked like you were not to be a part of that. Perhaps now you will.

But if you're not, Thank you for what you have done for us in the time you've been here. Nobody will forget what you did in Istanbul.

Whatever the future holds, get well, get 100% better - get to know your young child and try and relax before you concentrate on getting better.

I don't normally do these but I feel real sorry for Cissé so I thought I'd make an effort. However, the best effort I could make would not be a patch on what Case said, so I'll just second that.

Djibs, take your time and get well. I hope to see you on the pitch leading our attack next spring when the other teams are getting tired. I expect you to give 'em hell and end next season the way you did for LFC this spring, scoring in a Final (or maybe two)!

As a footballer, it is a terrible blow to break your leg. You, of all people, know that.

You showed everyone that you had the courage and the determination and the soul to recover from that injury. You were severely tested and you came through with flying colours. You came back to figure in Liverpool's greatest triumphs; the Champions League win in Istanbul, the Super Cup win in Monaco and the FA Cup win in Cardiff. You are part of our proud name.

At this moment, in your quietest and most personal times you must be fighting off the cloak of despair. This is only natural. Don't let it take over you, Djibril.

Fight back just as you fought before. You are an exciting talent. You are a player who has shown heroic qualities. You are destined to be a hero once again.

Djibril, hold your head up high and don't be afraid of the dark. You WILL hear the lark sing for you again and what joy that will bring you !

Good luck. I look forward to see you play again soon.
