autumn319 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) i just have heard it on the radio.french daily l'équipe relayed it as well.it's not a 100% sure yet but marseilles should officially speak about that today. it could be a one year loan.
magneto Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 There was never a question of agreeing terms as he is a Marseille fan. Lets see if the clubs can agree a fee..or hopefully..Lyon and Marseille get into a biding war.
LFCJari37 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Its in the Guardian too...http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1791847,00.html Djibril Cissé agreed a move to Marseille following talks with the French club. The Marseille president Pape Diouf travelled to Merseyside to open negotiations with Liverpool.Liverpool's chief executive Rick Parry yesterday returned from a fortnight's holiday in the Caribbean and his first task will be to have talks with Diouf over the France international forward's future. Diouf will seek to persuade Parry to accept a loan move for Cissé with an option to purchase the player at a later date. However, Parry is likely to hold out for a £7m transfer in the knowledge that Marseille are highly capable of raising funds through the sale of the France international winger Franck Ribéry to Manchester United, Arsenal or Lyon. Parry may even raise the suggestion of an exchange deal, though Diouf, who values Ribéry at £25m, will undoubtedly resist. Lyon had considered an approach for Cissé but they would want to take the player only on loan.Meanwhile Claudio Ranieri's talks with Marseille over his becoming the next manager at the Stade Vélodrome appeared close to collapse last night as the club feared the Italian's financial demands would be too great.
Walrus Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 f***ing hell, just sell him or keep him. The loan deals are doing my head in
Rimbeux Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Agree, put your cash down or f off. You don't chase a player for over a year like Diouf has, and then claim you need him on loan first
bsl Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 They f*ckin well know what he can do, o what's the point of a loan? We'd be better off keeping him on the bench here than loaning him out. They'd expect most of his wages paying as well. No more loans, we've already got a full team playing elsewhere.
Woodsyla Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 LFCJari37 said: Parry may even raise the suggestion of an exchange deal, though Diouf, who values Ribéry at £25m, will undoubtedly resist.Yes, f***ing please, even if we have to pay £5m plus Cisse to match the Mancs £12m it would be worth everny penny. Yes £12m is a gamble on a kid but getting shut of an unwanted player and paying £5m isnt the same as £12m especially when there is no guarantee that we would get the cash otherwise. Rick, make it so !!!
Montse Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 You loan out kids on the verge of the 1st team not the clubs most expensive player. We are selling him to get the cash for someone we want, not cos he feels unloved by Rafa but is coming back next year!

It makes no sense, especially since is value will drop. The nuts and bolts of the deal is pure speculation at the moment, imo. It's obvious that he'll probably go to Marseille but there'll be a lot of rubbish in the press before he does.
Guest Lasty Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Yes let's get rid of him not loan him. Far too many loans going on. We'll make a massive loss on him but then we were always gonna do that
Guest 7777 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 It won't be a loan He is our most saleable asset. Rafa would probably keep him before loaning him I reckon
AE Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) With these deals we only see the headline figure (i.e. how ,uch a team claim to have paid for someone), we don't see the bonuses, wages etc owed to the playter agent etc. And Cisse will be on far more now than he will get in France. A loan is better than being in our reserves all season. But hopefully we can sell him. Edited June 7, 2006 by AE
Leo No.8 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) No loans - either buy him or f*ck off back to France and we'll keep him. There's absolutely no justification for him going on loan, he was top scorer over there for 3 seasons running and hasn't had any injury problems since the leg break. He'd be a year closer to the end of his contract at the end of the loan as well, meaning our position would be less strong in any transfer negotiations. Tell them to pay up or stick it, simple as that. Edited June 7, 2006 by Leo No.8
Case Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 I don't get it. How can Diouf have agreed terms with Cisse without being given permission to approach him? And would we have given permission for a club to approach one of our players without agreeing the terms of the transfer up front? If so, all I thought I knew is wrong.

Stevie H Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 it's unsurprising that marseille want a loan deal, they hold the cards. they know we need to sell.

Diouf also told reporters last night he hopes Cisse will be released to them this week!

Leo No.8 Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 (edited) Thank God for his run of form towards the end of the season by the way. At one stage (after his Old Trafford debacle) I didn't think we'd be able to give him away. I genuinely thought we'd be lucky to get £5m. Edited June 7, 2006 by Leo No.8
Guest westang Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 for a player of his footballing ability, 7m is a fair price i guess...

Rushian Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Is it just me that thinks the Guardian article is absolute gibberish? I think they've used Babelfish for it.
