In terms of pure agility and footballing genius; goals that actually left you wondering how the hell they did it. So many to choose from I know, but if which 3 spring to mind?

First three I thought of were:

1: Marco Van Basten for Holland against USSR in the European Championship Final.

2: Youri Djorkaeff's almost superhuman scissor-kick for Inter Milan.

3: Negrete for the hosts Mexico in the '86 World Cup Finals.

Overhead kicks are quality...

roberto mancini for lazio against someone when he darted out from the near post when a corner was whipped in, jumped in the air diagonally away from the goal, let the ball go through his legs in mid-air and while still jumping backheel volleyed the ball into the top corner. just bewildering.

Dennis Laws back heel against United, not for the quality of it, but the fact it relegated the c****

Ray Houghtons goal against England in Euro 88

that Saudi fella who ran the length of the pitch and scored against Belgium in USA 94. had he been Brazilian they would show it more. he walked it in from his own 18 yard box

Le Tissier's like a one-man catalogue but that long-range shot past Flowers that I think one goal of the season.

Van Basten's volley for the Dutch in Euro 98

Oh and Zidane's volley in the European Cup Final for Madrid

anyone remember Alan Mullery knee-ing one in from about 25 yards? They used to show it on telly in goal round ups...

1. Mark Hughes, Wales 3 vs Spain 0, at the racecourse 1985(?).(Side-on overhead scissor kick nto the top corner)

2. Fabio Aurelio, Betis vs Barcelona 2001-(70-yard mazy run, blaster of a finish) (sorry, Figaro)

3. Dennis Bergkamp, Holland vs Argentina, France '98.(dream trap, near post belter).

Many, many more come to mind.

i don't think anybody's mentioned Rivaldo's bicycle kick from the top of the box when he played for Barcelona. I can't recall who it was against though.

Valencia

2-2, last minute. Winner qualifies for the CL

And he'd already hit two beauties

1. Roberto Carlos's corner flag goal; just for the audacity of it (

).

2. Trevor Sinclar's overhead kick from the edge of the box; fantastic technique (video).

3. Zola's little flying backheel; the balls to even try it (video).

There's probably loads more. I might have to amend this later.

Zico tapping in following the most amazing Eder FK.

Neliniho hitting an amazing swerver from near the touchline past Zoff.

Zoff being beaten by Krol from miles out.

Just had a look to see if some of my favourite goals are on YouTube...and guess what??

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX3gHBvdSJE&search=di%20canio

Di Canio scores for Napoli against AC in 93/94. AC were virtually unbeatable at the time and this was in the last couple of minutes with the score at 0-0. Fantastic goal.

And the other two places probably go to the two Brazilian goals against the Soviets in '82.

THAT free-kick really is something else. Can't recall a better one (even if it did hit the bar)

1) Marradona's 2nd against England. Just a truly breathtaking goal.

2) Di Canio's against Wimbledon. Hate his politics, but that goal was sheer class. Possibly the best thats ever been scored in the Premiership.

3) Zola's flick against Norwich. Class player. Class goal.

1. hoddle against Watford

2. Le Tissier v Newcastle

3. Stev Mckenzie man City v Spurs 81 cup final replay

Which one?

Think he scored 2 class goals in a game against them at The Dell. One where he just kept flicking it past players and then rolled it in, and then where he just slammed it in the top corner.

Gazza's goal against Scotland - Euro 96 I think - when he flicked the ball forward over his shoulder and volleyed it into the net. :)

Breitner's rocket shot for Germany, I think it was in the 74 World Cup.

Fowler agai... oh, hold on. :)

Rivaldo for Barca - his third goal, an overhead kick to ensure CL qualification at the death.

Alan Giresse for France against Germany in the 82 World Cup. Screamer going in off the post.

Should that be won?

88?

Tony Yeboah, Wimbledon v Leeds 95-96. Not long after the one he scored against us, he won the ball in midfield, moved it forward past a defender by bouncing it off his knee, then as it fell he volleyed it in from outside the area.

Matt Le Tisser, Blackburn v Southampton 94-95. To quote Radio Five, so good even the Blackburn fans applauded.

Steven Reid, Wigan v Blackburn 05-06. I think everyone who has ever played football has wanted to hit it as hard as he did right into the top corner!!
