Guest JamesA Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 He clearly doesn't mind tapping up other managers either... "Ten years ago I tried to get Sven to come to Bayern. I went to Lisbon and over dinner I offered him the job."
_00_deathscar Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 so he rates Sven & Lampard ? In other words he's clearly talking b******s.
Guest Red Mist Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I almost gave up after reading his ludicrous praise of Lampard ("England's driving force" my @rse). He's right about Chelsea but we all know about them anyway. Bayern are in some ways similar to Chelsea since they can easily out-spend every other Bundesliga club and sign all the superstars, and I'm sure non-Bayern footie fans in Germany loathe them as much as we do Chelsea.

This is very true. In fact, there's a good case for seeing them as the Bundesliga's prime parasites. I've seen it so often over the last 25 years here. Other clubs get talented players (Podolski at Cologne, Ballack, Ze Roberto, Lucio, Kovac at Leverkusen, Scholl and Kahn from Karlsruhe - you could go on forever) and Bayern muscle them out financially. The difference to Chelsea is that Bayern have worked their way into this position of strength based on a superb player generation up to the mid 70s and excellent financial management from the early 80s. I still can't stand them, though.

Rich Gobey Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 i've never met a german i didn't like... the point about the salery cap is that is based on income, not the owners spending power. bayern have an income, like us and man u et al that is based on years of footballing success and re-investment. i think the world is right to be afraid of what chelsea stand for and the precedent that they have set.
