Montse Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Think GS still has to complete his UEFA B licence let alone the A one. At least Roeder was half way through his before he fell ill.
jimmylibel Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Cos everyone hates Middlesbrough and all the other Premiership Chairmen pick on Steve Gibson?
Guest JamesA Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Think GS still has to complete his UEFA B licence let alone the A one. At least Roeder was half way through his before he fell ill. I think Roeder has his A licence - it is the Pro Licence he does not have yet. If Southgate does not have his UEFA B yet then he still has the 2 years of the A licence to go before getting to the Pro, which I believe is a 1 year course.
Gunga Din Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 i think its all a load of balls myself, needing a licence to manage a football team

Murphman Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 i think its all a load of balls myself, needing a licence to manage a football team I agree totally Wayne. Managing and coaching are different skills.
RP Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 (edited) A funny thread this. Any d*ckhead can take the FA courses, which are largely an exercise in brainwashing and power trips. Many people can pass these courses without having the ability to coach or manage a football team. Makes you wonder what the point is really. Edited June 6, 2006 by RP

Montse Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 Smacks of desparation but.. Southgate appointed as Boro boss Southgate is hoping to take over as manager from Steve McClaren Middlesbrough have appointed Gareth Southgate as their new manager. Southgate, who won 57 caps for England, joined Boro from Aston Villa in a £6.5m deal in summer 2001, and has made more than 200 appearances for the club. The 35-year-old defender has been given the job despite not possessing the relevant Uefa coaching qualifications. Club chairman Steve Gibson said: "We have fast-tracked Gareth because we let our previous manager, Steve McClaren, become the new England coach." More to follow. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ugh/5052126.stm
cochyn Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Will he be player manager I wonder? I should think he gets to manage them, yes.

There's no way the FA can kick up a fuss or cause any problems for them, after the way Boro let Mclaren go to England.
stressederic Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 not sure if it's anything to do with the FA tbh I think they needed approval from the FA and from a majority of Premier League Chairmen didn't they?
Cobs Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 thought it was the Premier League & League Managers Association
stressederic Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 thought it was the Premier League & League Managers Association Ah I see. Don't envy them having to try and hold a conversation with Howard Wilkinson.
