Guest Red Mist Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 F*ck sake, the country's obsession with our new saviour, the boy who nobody has ever seen play prior to the Belarus game is plain ridiculous. He's done nothing in the brief time he's been given a chance against mediocre opposition...he looked sh*t scared each time. The idea that he can be England's new wonderkid like Mikey and Shrek before him is stupid. At least those two were already established Premiership footballer by the time they were taken to the major international tournament that made their name. The newspaper editors who have made him the new messiah and his bitch the new Posh need to be taken out and flogged in public.
Flasher Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I fear it's only just begun TBH. Not even scratched the surface yet...
Guest JamesA Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Is this his first own thread on YNWA ? You've just made a bit more Theo history - well done.
AE Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Is this his first own thread on YNWA ? You've just made a bit more Theo history - well done. You should have been here when we were going to sign him!!! Of course, we now all know how over hyped he is
Guest JamesA Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 You should have been here when we were going to sign him!!! Of course, we now all know how over hyped he is I've got my 'I saw Theo play in a match before Belarus' tshirt
Guest Aussie_Red Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I haven't been engulfed in the hyperbole of the British press but it is unfair, yet typical, to treat the lad as if he is going to be the next footballing messiah. You never know, he could turn out to be a big surprise, but I think most of us would agree that there were better options than him. Even if the lad fails miserably in the World Cup it shouldn't be held against him in the future.

Who's this? Rooney?
Bootle Buck Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Walcott brings an added mystery to a team that quite honestly is pretty picked before the WC begins. He may unsettle a few teams with his pace. It's a pity the lad is being given a chance by a manager who seems to make it up as he goes along. What is more alarming is the fact that Defoe has been nudged out of the reckoning as he was by his club and yet is a reported target for Liverpool.
_00_deathscar Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 For a 17yr old he did ok against Hungary. Their defence was s**** granted but the same can be said of Crouch's goal. He's hardly the saviour or footballing God some (mostly the media and fickle English fans) are making him out to be though. Messi isn't much older than Theo, and Messi is on a different level to most players today; nevermind Theo Walcott.

Guest JamesA Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 He was only on the bench for Soton's first game of last season, away to Luton. I have the programme and teamsheet.
Will Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 He was only on the bench for Soton's first game of last season, away to Luton. I have the programme and teamsheet. Would you like a medal?
Guest JamesA Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Would you like a medal? No, it's only programmes I am after, as it always was, thank you.
IgPig Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 i reckon walcott's inclusion in the squad does more favours for arsenal than for engerland. Not if he gets a chance at the world cup, fails miserably, and goes back a broken man(child)
jariiiiiiiiiise Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Not if he gets a chance at the world cup, fails miserably, and goes back a broken man(child) IMHO Theo's in the England squad for one reason He's a decoy for the team .every major tournament England have entered the press has stuck there nose in and upset the players with there no news storieswell I think svens come up with the idea lets bring a total stranger into the squad so the press can have something to write about without distracting the first team hope it continues to work go for him press men
