Ostrich Man Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 (edited) 3 words or less? X2 Edited June 1, 2006 by Ostrich Man
Guest JamesA Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Coke is no longer it. Theo is. Painted on the naked stomachs of Engerlund fans, so it must be true.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 3 words or less? X2 "Should we play 3-5-2, 4-1-4-1, 4-4-2? It is almost beyond belief that such basic questions are being asked so near to the moments of truth." Not ten, but I don't care.
yellow jumper Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 poor from lawton. thought he might be above the usual english media hysteria. has he the first idea what's going on in the french squad; domenech's risible selection policy and squad in-fighting. or that peckerman has had to leave out zannetti and veron because his captain won't countenance their selection. germany are still tinkering with their formation, and were losing 0-2 against japan until they reverted to a 4-4-2. spain have been experimenting with a 4-3-3. robson changed formation during the tournament in 1990. think most of the international coaches are still prepared to make changes in personnel at this stage.
Guest redmilky Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Load of balls. And what is it with articles getting pasted twice? Seems to happen all the time.
Guest Red Mist Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Well he's right that Sven is hopeless and our laughable bid to 'win' the WC is exactly that, laughable. But his dig against Carra is totally unwarranted. Carra did a good job in an unfamiliar position. Likewise condemning Wrighty for a fresh perspective on Stevie's alleged dive is also out-of-order. We KNOW the opposition are going to try to con the ref at every opportunity, especially if we come up against Germany and especially the Argies. We should stoop low enough to counter these dirty tricks from the opposition.
Gravy Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Can someone answer me wtf we have got Jenas in the squad when we have 7 other players who can play one of two positions in CM and only 4 people (one an untried 17 year old) that can play in 2 positions up front?
Stevie H Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 has england had an actual left-footed left midfielder since john barnes retired?
Cobs Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Germany in Munich in the last 16.kinda indicates you think Germany have an even more piss easy group that, doesn't it? has england had an actual left-footed left midfielder since john barnes retired?Lee Sharpe ?
Guest Anders Honoré Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Le Saux and J.Cole spring to mind. About it though.
Ripley Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 kinda indicates you think Germany have an even more piss easy group that, doesn't it?Not really but it's how you beat the 2 weak group members as well isn't it? Germany has a similar group and they are poor at the moment, but I can see them doing Poland in what should be that group's crunch game, whereas I have my doubts about England against Sweden, by which time I'd fancy Larsson and Ibrahimovic to have scored more than whoever England field up front against the other two. Just seems a value bet, England not to win the group.
Stevie H Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 sweet jesus, that's it? lee sharpe, graeme le saux (fullback), joe cole (right-footed, anders you t***), jason wilcox and seth johnson? how can a nation this size fail to produce the occasional left-footed midfielder?

Guest JamesA Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 What about that one from Boro in the squad... Said Sven (Charltonesque, like).
Gilps Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 What about that one from Boro in the squad... Said Sven (Charltonesque, like). Not been capped yet has he? Does the Bridge in front of Cole experiment count?
Guest JamesA Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Not been capped yet has he? Does the Bridge in front of Cole experiment count? Says it all about Sven, really.
Cobs Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Not been capped yet has he? he has 1 cap v Holland a dutch cap you might call it
Armin_Tamzarian Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Lawton's spot on. He wasn't harsh on Carrahger at all, he has more respect for him than most journalists because he understands what an excellent a defender he is. Sven has picked up 4.5 million a year and one injury to Rooney and he falls to pieces. The same thing happened in Portgual. He's had a very talented bunch of players to choose from and he's consistently failed to tackle the obvious problems in his team.
Cobs Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 shouldn't be ignored than Sven picked Rooney for England at a time when i'd bet there was a fair % of posters on here who thought that the fat Shrek-a-like-sell his city down the river-once a blue always a manc - cn*t, shouldn't have been anywhere near the national team. he wasn't falling apart then and i don't think he is now.
