Showed again last night that he is the most over rated midfielder since David Platt. No wonder he never gets injured, he never tackles or runs. Eriksson should be building a team around Gerrard as the central midfeilder and that means having the balls to drop Lampard and playing a midfielder to suit Gerrard, instead he insists of having a player who only scores mainly penalties, deflected free kicks or deflected shots.

He's not a big game player, never has been, and until Sven realises that Gerrard HAS to be THE arttacking midfielder, we will be handicapped in the WC and will not get close to winning it.

Gerrard and Carrick, a la Gerrard and Alonso, Or Gerrard and Carra, a la Gerrard and Hamann.

Aye thank you.

In a couple of places somewhere there is a couple of pagers going off stating "LAMPARD CRITICISM, GET ON YNWA NOW HE NEEDS YOU"

Gerrard is such the better player for having Xabi ad Momo around him. Xabi keeps the ball moving quickly whilst Momo covers every part of the pitch defensively. Compare that with Frank and Carra, King, Carrick or whoever else they get in beside him. Disastrous stuff. Sven just gives me the impression he's clutching at straws, making it up as he goes along.

it gets right on my t*** that there's the perception in the media that lampard is world class and therefore totally undroppable, and that it's gerrard who must move to accomodate him. just another sign of weakness from the manager i guess.

england's two best players are rooney and gerrard by some distance, and the side should be moulded and shaped around them. gerrard really shouldn't still be seen as a square peg for any random round hole at international level.

Can't see it changing under McClaren either.

There's certainly not another country in the world who at this stage of Gerrard's career still wouldn't have worked out how best to use him in the national team.

In a nutshell.

There are lots of fine players in the England set-up (Terry, Owen etc) but Rooney and Gerrard are on a different level altogether and the team should play to both their strengths.

Surely you can see it is either black or white.

You either play for us or you're rubbish. Or you previously played for us, left on a good note and we still like you.

Not at all. John Terry is a chav, I hate him like everyone else does but he's a fantastic CD and I wouldn't advocate Carra in front of him and am quite happy he the CD. Likewise I am happy that Beckham, Cole and Neville are in the team.

It's not about club loyalty, it's about the fact that Lampard is HUGELY overrated just because he plays for Chelsea.

He's been the key player in a team that won back-to-back league titles.

End of.

No he hasn't. John Terry and Makelele have.

Actually its Cech, Terry, Makelele and Lampard. Whether you like him or not.

I don't agree with you, but that's not to be wondered at.

and, weirdly, drogba.

To an extent, although as with all their wide players, I think they could pretty much have put anyone there and got to where they did this season - that is the challenge for them now - they have the spine and need to build on it. Hence Shev... Ballack is pretty much unnecessary, I think.

29 goals and 23 assists in 2 seasons - not bad for a fat over-rated lump of schite.

He is overrated...and it would be interesting to see the return Gerrard would give playing in such a system instead of Frank. I think if Mourinho had Gerrard and Ballack then the door would be open for Frank to go to Barca...

Gerrard is better, but this Lampard baiting is pathetic.

Let's accomodate lucky Fat Frank in the back to back League winners team and never drop him, because he's s****

Let his peers vote for him for the last 2 seasons, as one of the best players in the League, because he's s****

Let his peers vote for him as one of the best players in Europe, but they are wrong, because he's s****

Let's ignore the fact that he was voted England's player of the year and scored most in the qualifiers, because he's s****

Let's ignore the fact that he scores shed loads of goals every season, because he's s****

Let's remember he wears blue, not red, therefore he's s**** (This bit is fair enough ;) )

It beggars belief that some people have any common sense and have ever watched a game of football. You don't like him great, but he isn't s****

I think it's very much like the old 'Beckham isn't very good' thing to be honest - people almost underrate him because he's so overrated - kind of balances out I guess.

Both good players, but no where near what the media make them out to be; also nowhere near as bad as some make them out to be - hence the leveller.

I think I've said before I don't rate him. He's a tidy player with a decent goal return. Spends far too much time for a central midfielder ahead of the ball. Call me old school but I like my centre midfielders running the game or at least in a position to stop someone on the opposition doing it. Frank needs to score goals to have any major influence on a game, which he does quite regularly in fairness, but I've rarely seen him run a game.

Shapeless. I'd suggest he's a number 10, if you know what I mean, as pposed to a 6 or 8.
