FERNANDO MORIENTES says Valencia are the only club which could have attracted him to leave Anfield this summer - as Rafa Benitez now sets his sights on off loading another member of his strike force.

 

With Morientes £3m switch to La Liga now complete, Djibril Cisse will follow him out of the exit door when the re-cord signing finds a suitable club.

 

Although it's been an open secret Benitez is willing to sell Cisse, the manager has now gone further and taken the ruthless step of telling the forward he's no longer part of his plans and can speak to other clubs.

 

It's a huge blow for Cisse who's regularly stated his preference to stay at Anfield, but it's been clear for some time the Liverpool boss wanted to replace the forward he inherited from Gerard Houllier.

 

 

 

Now Cisse has been effectively transfer-listed, along with ten or so other Houllier signings no longer wanted by the club.

Marseille appears to be the most likely destination for Cisse, although it's inevitable the Reds must accept a significant loss on the £14m they paid Auxerre in 2004.

 

 

Cisse, speaking to reporters at France's World Cup training base at Clairefontaine, admitted that he had been in contact with three leading French clubs.

 

 

The 24-year-old said: "I am in contact with Marseille and Lyon and I have also had an approach from Paris St Ger-main. I want to decide very quickly."

Kewell at the right price and if the incoming deals go through.

 

Though in reality it is possibly just a slight exaggeration by Bascombe to emphasise his favourite 'Houllier ruined this club' theme. (Not that he is necessarily incorrect in his criticisms, just that he repeats the same ones over and over and over and over again).

Maybe next year. It would be a huge risk to sell Kewell in Gonzalez first season in England. And I dont think we're that strong on either wing to be honest. I'd rather have Kewell than Riise, Warnock or Zenden in midfield, maybe even Garcia.

Although i would be sad to see him go i think you can include Didi to that list.

 

He has been a great servant to the club and would be a great player to have as back up but at his stage in his career he might want 1st team football which i dont think he is.

 

Hope he stays however as he will be offered another seasons deal due to the amount of games he played last season.
