Ronnie Whelan Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 No, not beef and onion pies, but: This. I dont think the 'special one' will be happy with this.
CarraLegend Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 No, not beef and onion pies, but:This.I dont think the 'special one' will be happy with this. Be interesting to see if he really did say it. He'd be a massive flop at Barca I reckon, he'd be shown up technically beside Deco, Xavi etc and the team wouldnt be played for him getting into the box off Eto'o knockdowns.
fyds Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Once Ballack signed, I was waiting to see how long this would take...
liverbird04 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 got to give the guy credit ,certainly made the most of his er talent, far more talented footballers than fattie frank will never do as well or make it as far ,now he's talking of barcelona with a straight face its quite incredible really. .Just shows how far hard work can get someone . He would get shown up at barclona though.
Guest Scot Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 He would not at all get shown up at Barca. Instead he'd be a hero of the fans within half a season.

R A Softlad Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Now would be the time to make the move, he's 27...
Ronnie Whelan Posted May 29, 2006 Author Posted May 29, 2006 I'll line em up... you bat em back. Donuts?
Guest Scot Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Maybe, maybe not - always hard to call on such a move. Perhaps it wouldn't work out. That happens. I don't buy the premise of the suggestion: that Lampard is sh*t and would look sh*t playing with good players in a good league. He's hardly playing for Marine now is he...?

I think he'd flop at Barca because of the way they play and I think Deco, Xavi etc are technically way superior, doesnt mean I think he's a bad player, I just dont think his game is cut out for that League or Barca at least.

His game is accurate short-passing, excellent set pieces and making well-timed runs from deep to contribute a good share of goals. Why wouldn't it work in Spain?

Why wouldn't it work in Spain? I dont think his passing short or long is as good as any of their central mids, excellent set pieces? Makes no difference if Ronaldinho continues to take them. Good share of goals? Maybe, a lot of his stuff comes off Drogba knockdowns (Which is one of the reasons Drogba is the top assist man in the League) but I cant see them setting up Eto'o to do the same, just dont think he'd be a success at Barca. I know that pisses off a few Liverpool fans on here but thats what I think, i'm not saying he "s***" as you put it. Edited May 29, 2006 by CarraLegend
Cooldude Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Excellent set pieces? You mean slamming every freekick at the wall all the time and hoping that it'd rebound off a defender's ass into goal? His freekicks only consist of one move: A low hard long shot.

His freekicks only consist of one move: A low hard long shot.that's not true, he does obviously practice the f*** out of his dead balls and puts a generally decent ball in these days. i just think he's totally functional and pretty average but in a decent team. certainly doesn't have any imagination or flair to his play.
R A Softlad Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 I'd agree with that Stevie, he's also afforded the ability to get in the box because of Makalele - can't see him and Ballack working to be honest.
stressederic Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Someone described Lampard a while back as Jamie Redknapp with a midfield and attack built around him. Can't really argue with that to be honest. Obviously a good player but not really a world beater in my opinion.
D.Boon Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Someone described Lampard a while back as Jamie Redknapp with a midfield and attack built around him. Can't really argue with that to be honest. Lampard broke the appearance record for something like 1,876,987 consecutive games played. Did Redknapp play more than 10 consecutive games without a long period off injured?? Im not Lampards biggest fan, but Redknapp was never as influential. Although over rated so you may be right.
