BENITEZ TARGETS PENNANT

LIVERPOOL are set to make a £3.5m swoop for Jermaine Pennant.

 

Anfield boss Rafael Benitez believes the Birmingham midfielder (above) would be ideal for the wide right position he has been trying to fill for a year.

 

Fernando Morientes ended a miserable 18 months at Anfield yesterday with a £3m move to Valencia, blaming Benitez for a "lack of confidence" in him. Maybe just the press looking for storys as ever.

The only thing heard from Moro thus far is 'I'm sorry it didn't work for me at Liverpool, the fans were fantastic and deserved more - it's a great club' so I think they're blowing smoke too.

He did have a big bust/discussion over wether he was going to be first team. Rafa probably said not unless hes on form and thats the mirrors "lack of confidence"

As far as I can recall our named targets are all acting in a similar way.

 

Kuyt - I wont be deciding anything till after the world cup

 

Alves - I wont be deciding anything till after my holiday to Brazil

If Garcia is staying and we're looking for two strikers I don't see how we can accomodate 2 right wingers if we buy them.

 

We'll have 9 midfielders (excluding the second right winger) and 4 strikers.

Garcia can play in a host of different positions but his best imho is playing behind the striker.
