anny road Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 i was told by Alyson R that the press had been briefed about defoe and that he was expected to sort personal terms out by the weekend She wasnt sure why they were not running it, but she thinks it is something to do with an agreement with the England set up about press stories........ apparantly
McBain Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 My two sources, Jack and Daniel, have both told me we're signing Defoe Deffo
RafaShanks Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 But This is gospel truth and I don't post what I dont believe anyway here goes Defoe will officially sign after the world cup I have it on very good source So what's your forfeit if this goes t*** up? :dynamite:
meepins Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 (edited) i was being sarcastic mate obv he has ha reason for selling or he wouldnt be getting rid would he? Do people think the manager would get rid of a player for no reason? He has scored a few goals yet he is certain to go He might be a b*****d Rafa but he aint f***ing daft didn't read your post properly but yeah, they still strike me as being very similar.I don't doubt rafa at all , never have never will ('cept bringing on Smicer in Istanbul, I still maintain thats f***ing nuts).Legend. Cam Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Elisha said it was a done deal on here last week. Next week Ant says "we're signing Crouch". Good player, a touch greedy & lazy. Rafa will have to do with him as he did with Gerrard - knock the 'Hollywood' attempts out of him. He's certainly a better bet than Cisse, Crouch and the now gone Morientes. If he can get in the 6-yard box more often he may be just what we're looking for. I'm happy he's one of 4 strikers and yet I don't feel we've yet got that top Euro-class striker.

WTF is Euro Class? totally different to Crouch.....not even comparable
Earl Hafler Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Defoe is fecking garbage. I've been saying it for ages but i'd rather have Baros in the side and the facts are we play better football with 10 men than we did with Baros. Crouch before Baros or Defoe any day of the week

Gomez Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Don't understand the WC thing, with Rooney looking like he might be fight to sit on the bench if we make it to the final, Defoe won't be going, so what exactly is the point everyone waiting?

Not a resounding done deal.
Cam Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Someone to strike fear into the likes of Barca and Milan in the CL, a forward who can wait patiently for that one chance and guarantee a goal. I think he'll be a great addition for the assault on the league though - just what we need there.
RafaShanks Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 The English/Premiership candidates each have their pro's and cons, and if I'm being totally honest, none of which inspire me, which where the problem lies with most fans. Owen is better than the lot put together, but is unlikely to return unless something miraculous happens. Rafa is a very intelligent man and I have complete faith in whoever he decides to bring in. If he wants Defoe, then he's obviously seen something that he can work with. If Defoe is seen as Moro's replacement, then it's an improvement. Give Rafa some credit FFS, (not "For Fernando's Sake), he knows what he is doing. That'll mean when Djib is replaced, Rafa will have to replace him with someone like Kuyt, who is likely to score a fair few goals, but is more of a team player. Even Kuyt has his detractors. Oh, he plays in a s**** league and won't be able to repeat his prolific record etc. Course he's gonna be a risk, but Dutch players have a good record in most cases, adapting to the Premiership. If he manages 1 goal in every two, we'll be laughing. Rant over!!!

The last couple of times ive watched Defoe i have been surprised at how poor he was.
