I've been one of those all along who said I didn't believe for a minute Luis was going - it just didn't make sense...Rafa is ruthless, but not stupid. Luis is a great contributor.

To be fair, the rumours were nothing to do about talent, just his family.

In some cases, but htere have been more than a few going on about not reliable enough, too frsutrating etc...but on your reasonable point about family, Luis has alsways (and Xabi) said that they have settled well. More than a few fans over the last year have run into Luis buying bits for his guitars in town and he seems to be usually a happy chappy.

i'm sure i've read on his forum the argument along the line of - he's surplus to requirement, given the type of player he is and the formations we play.

I'm certain you're spot on.

Anyone think that RAFA might play him as a second striker? Some of his instinctive finishing is top class, he seems to be less good when he has time though? GGreat to hear he's staying....

He's played that role before and doubtless will again - he works best 'in the hole' so to speak, or effectively drifting around behind the main striker(s) were defences just don't seem to pick him up.

forum lore: it's only a fact when fyds confirms it thus :D

I have my uses...decorative badly dressed wall-prop for one! :D

Good news. One of the (very) few occasions where I am glad to be wrong.

:D I wasn't sure if you wanted him to stay or not - glad you do!

Am I worrying unnecessarily about this line then?

"He has contributed a lot since he joined us, but I spoke to him at the end of the season and we agreed if a good Spanish club was interested in him he could talk to them," said Benitez.

Yes, I think so. You read that quote out of context. The relevant portion of the article read:

"Benitez defended the Spanish forward from allegations he'd flopped on Merseyside, insisting he's had a major input to the first stage of Liverpool's development.

"He has contributed a lot since he joined us, butI spoke to him at the end of the season and we agreed if a good Spanish club was interested in him he could talk to them," said Benitez. "Since he joined us he has been a good professional and helped the team a lot."

So Rafa was referring to Nando, not Luis.

Ooops so I did! :hooked::unsure: Good - I'm delighted Luis is staying after all.

He also seems a good guy for the dressing room too.

Be still my beating heart. Must read less of those sites or those words would not conjure up the image they do :o
