The last WC was chocka with them - South Korea getting as far as they did, the Argies bailing badly, France not scoring...

Will there be any this time 'round? Walcott bursting onto the scene, the Italians imploding...

My prediction - the Czechs not to get out of the group stage

Spain WILL get somewhere!

Brazil will be sh*t!

I reckon the group with Holland, Argentina, Serbia & Montenegro and Ivory Coast will throw up the biggest surprise. I reckon Holland might be the victims in that group.

I also reckon Germany will go out in the second round.

i think iran have a good chance of progressing to the second round, as does tunisia

Korea have been relly s**** since thast world cup. i have a strange feeling that holland will go all the way this time

I think that with the USA in their Group, there is a good chance that one of Italy or the Czech Republic will not go through. Here's hoping it's Italy...

cant see Iran getting a point in their group to be honest. i would love to see them our Saudi get through the group, but i really just cant see it

Italy to go out in the group stages, Spain to get to the semis at least, Brazil NOT to win the whole thing, Ivory Coast or Ghana to get to the quarters.

"Crouch scores more than 1 goal." Now that would be a surprise.

that omits owen though. i'd rather see gerrard play from the right like he does for us, he's just devastating from there. play lampard in the middle with carrick or hargreaves holding and yes, someone left. think i probably prefer downing over joe cole at this point.

think crouch and owen could be a really successful pairing if the midfield balance is right.

I don't think Owen is going to be ready, and I think England's best chance of goals may be from midfield. Trouble is, on last night's performance, Carrick is not good enough for that holding role (or for playing alongside Lampard if Gerrard is on the right), and Downing is not good enough for the left.

So if there's a surprise you'll be...surprised?! ;)

There's always one but I just don't expect there to be as many... to be honest I'd say the biggest surprise would be Germany getting to the quarters as they look muck from what I've seen of them lately.

Mexico to the semis. Germany -after essentially being given a bye to the quarters - get battered by the first decent team they meet there. Brazil beaten by Japan.

i'd give anything to see iran get through and play the yanks.

ONLY if Iran won. Otherwise...

The biggest surprise has already happened.

The Czechs and Holland aren't playing each other.

Yea what's with that

When was the last time they weren't in a qualifying/tournament group together - 5 years ago or thereabouts?

South Korea are better than Iran. They won't get a point from Mexico - Mexico's goal difference through their 18 preliminaries : +57.

They were playing the lies of Guatemala though.
