Guest Red Flame Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Yes, I've wondered that. It was great to see that in the crowd. What's the story there ? Anyone know ?
Guest Tomrom Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 who carries his replica Big Ears around. what's the story there. and who makes it, for how much and can i get myself one. feckin top There's a norwegian by the name of Tage living in Liverpool that got one at least. I know by fact that he watches most matches, but Im not sure if he brings his Big Ears with him to the matches....
Red_Rob Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 There's a couple of them floating about, some lad in Dublin has one too.
Stew F Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 There was a big thing about it last year on Sky Sports news. They were questioning the legality of reproducing them. The replicas were being made by a local lad who was interviewed outside the Kop, he was offering personalised engravings on them.Sorry don't have any details
oakie bob Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Tage takes his to all the games as far as i know, and its always in the oakie with him
Jeff guitar Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Don't know how true this is but i heard you can buy them for £200+ in St. Johns Market.
Leo No.8 Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Not sure about the story behind them, but I was sat next to a lad who had one at the semi-final against Chelsea. It is a very good replica - think he got sick of people grabbing it off him and parading round with it, but that was counter-balanced by the adulation and attention...
Guest Lasty Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I think they're made by some place down Hanover Street. A fella near us had one. He brought it the pub and me and my mate had a picture took with it - my missus said I was a sad b*****d cos it wasn't the real thing.
plonky Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 http://www.trophyconnoisseur.com/lfc.htm I bought one of the smaller ones, they have gone up to £95 now though
Mono Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 As far as I can remember UEFA have the copyright on the trophy... So any club that wins it only gets a replica of the trophy that is 20% smaller than the original... Of course we've got one full size one
muleskinner Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Mate of mine got one for his 40th, cost the lads who bought it around £300 and a nervous 1 hour wait outside the Arkles on the day of his birthday to see if the lad turned up as he said he would.
Ripley Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 It is, and always will be, the European Cup. Calling it "big ears" should be a capital crime. I don't remember Man Utd winning something called big ears. It's like "The Fourth Grace" on the waterfront. There were never three f***ing graces.

There were never three f***ing graces. is this a joke?it's always been the cup with the big ears. i always had the impression that was a particularly LFC term of affection - typical scouse humour of taking away the grandeur with a joke too.you also only get to call someone by a nickname once you're close to them, and have a shared history...
