JAYJAYryan Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I mention this before... First it was Josemi and 3 million quid then two weeks ago LFC made a just under 7 million (pounds sterling) bid that Del Nido and the Board rejected - this was the deal that Del Nido told everyone at the private Sevilla dinner - he was convinced that LFC would come back with a higher offer towards the end of January and be knocked back again. This is the third time LFC have made a bid for Alves. He also mentioned a LFC interest in the young defender Prieto Figaro, would you say that it is likely that anything will come of it. Is Prieto any good?
Figaro Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Prieto is still learning - he's not anywhere near the stage Sergio Ramos was when Sevilla sold the latter... Alves wants to move to a bigger club but Sevilla are now finacially sound so his sale is not a priority atm...
Swipe Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I take it Ramos was great while at Sevilla? Cos he's been rubbish any time i've seen him for Real.
Figaro Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Ramos was brilliant at Sevilla and forced his way into the national team before he moved to Madrid... Just look at who he has alongside at Madrid: Roberto Carlos - way past his best, never a great defender even at his peak - playing his last season out amidst fisticuffs inside the dressing room and with the Spanish press. Helguera - has lost any semblance of form since he decided to accept Madrid's last word on his new contract - the player took a 40% wage cut and his form nose dived too Pavon - the once great white hope of the Madrid defence has gone the way one of his infamous predecessors went (Ivan Campo) - in the throes of a nervous breakdown and struggling to patch his career together Raul Bravo - need I say more? Woodgate - out for a year and a half and then Luxemburg brings him back and forces him to play four games on the trot... One of the reasons why Luxemburg was sent marching... Sergio Ramos is suffering from trying to do eveyone's job at the back
cestrianred Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Figaro (Pat),How (if at all) are the Spanish press playing the Funding/Directors Support/Investment search angles against Rafa & his 'contentment'?

Guest Evil_Ways Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Think Alves is regarded as Sevilla's most consistant player.Equally comfortable at RB and RM.
Figaro Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 I'm in Sanchez Pijuan tonight to see the Sevilla-Cadiz cup game (3-2 in Cadiz's favour after the first leg) and will be hanging around the lounge after the game - anything I find out I'll post tomorrow... Del Nido has stated before that nobody is guaranteed a place at the club and that everyone has a selling price - but the truth is that Sevilla are short of players at the back... Alfaro has gone on loan to Racing until he retires then he'll be back at the club in some management capacity - probably related to medicine Javi Navarro's injury is more serious than was originally thought Dragutinovic has shown signs of class but he's also had nightmare games too - the jury is still out Prieto is still learning and the other youngsters who could step up are injured Alves is needed this season until new players are bought... I'd be very surprised if Del Nido let's him go before June...
£440,000 Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Bloody OOC'ers! Out of country maybe, but the club ain´t ever out of mind. Sat in an internet cafe and cos I´ve got a Liverpool badge on the only thing the owner says to me is Xabi Alonso, Rafa Benitez, Pepe Reina, Luis Garcia, Antonio Barragan.
smokescreen Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Bling! Thats the best ever shirt I have seen to make a player look off balance whilst he is standing up straight... maybe its good for throwing a dummy?

Clay Davis Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Worst Diver Ever!!! if he ironed that out he'd be immense though! people always take negatives before positives!i agree he dives a hell of a lot though, a hell of a lot - but on the other hand he's a very consistent and able right back/right midfielder.
Cisse Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Honestly, I haven't seen one minute of Seville this season. i'd appreciate if anyone could give me/us a review of his season. Hi, lows, general progress......
Guest snez1 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Saw bits of him against Betis, did well, good crosses. Honestly can't remember if he played on the wing or at full back, i know he played alright though.
Guest wezza Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Saw bits of him against Betis, did well, good crosses. Honestly can't remember if he played on the wing or at full back, i know he played alright though.I saw him first game of the season against Racing Snatander. Went to the match with a mate and he was by far the best player on the pitch. He didnt do anything outstanding, but he looked the safest on the ball and made some good runs forward.I would see him more as an attacking RB/RWB, much the same as Riise really.I havent read anywhere about us being linked with him though??
Clay Davis Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 We've been repeatedly linked with him for about a year now. The transfer fee asked being the constant stumbling block it seems.

CaptainXabi Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Well I must have missed every report linking us then ha ha ha I would imagine that Sevilla would want around the £5m mark for him, is this the type of figure being reported? No, 12M Euro (8M Pounds) according to Figaro.
AnfieldCop Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Watched him a bit last year. Played as a RM quite a lot and really impressed me. This year I think he mainly has played at RB. I has pace, and is strong although he is quite small. Very good technique, good going past people and hardworking. I was not impressed by his crossing last season but he may have improved this year. His passing is a bit hit and miss I think, but in total a very very good player. I would love it if rafa bring him to Anfield.
Guest wezza Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 No, 12M Euro (8M Pounds) according to Figaro.Jeez thats a bit much.I think we would rate him at around £3.5-5m (from the little I have seen), but as he is well liked and one of Sevilla's best players, then im guessing they would be very reluctant to let him go. If we had to pay up £8m for him I wouldnt personally bother, Finnan has been solid and Barraghan looks like he might be coming through well too. Maybe go for a lesser player as a squad member.
