Guest TanMan Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 He says he would only want to move to England to improve his English, money isn't an issue. I don't think he feels Chelsea is a challenge. He knows they are expected to win the league and he must've seen how they treat their stars. I reckon he'd prefer to move to us, I reckon we could offer him £100k in wages and that he'd be happy enough with that. I also reckon that Milan would much rather do business with us than with Chelsea. I really think that behind the scenes we're plotting something huge and I hope that my hunch is right.

steviegw Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 (edited) I also hope that your hunch is right. Also hope that he remembers how brilliant we (the supporters) are.....and that he remembers half time on 25th May - We were dead and buried but our supporters were sensational. Surely he'd love to play for a club like ours! Edited May 21, 2006 by steviegw
Hugh Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 It would be nice to think that he'd turn down a wad of cash to come to a club who are going places not because of throwing money at a situation but because of a good manager who buys shrewdly. However I think he'll go for the wad of cash and then bulls*** the media and the fans with 'footballing reasons' b******s. Fair enough if he does, he'll be finishing second next season though.
Guest TanMan Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 (edited) what about the £50 million transfer fee? Mere triviality Joking aside, I reckon we could be ready to offer one of our stars plus cash. Something like that could persuade them. Edited May 21, 2006 by TanMan
Moose Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Would certainly be a challenge improving his english talking to carra, thats for sure.

steviegw Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 what about the £50 million transfer fee? Doesn't he only have one year left on his contract???He is also 29 years old....also if he really wants to leave, don't think that there is too much that Milan can do, so unless he joins he the chavs I don't think his transfer fee would be anywhere as much as we may think.

billybunter Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Yup. im convinced.... ...but the whole Russian link may prove influential
DaveLFC Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 (edited) IF we had 50 million think we would be crazy to spend that kind of cash on him, CRAZY! Knowing our luck he would get an injury and be out for most of the season. There are other targets that would improve the squad IF we had that kind of cash. (I read his contract runs out in 2009) Edited May 21, 2006 by DaveLFC
Guest The Mole Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 You've convinced me he's on his way. Will he be backup for Crouch or Fowler ?
nrkintheuk Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Wasn't there something about Rushie being his hero when he was a kid too. I think he played in a tournament over here and won player of a tournament and he got Rush's shirt. I may have dreamt that though. Plus, its never gonna happen

liverbird04 Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 players like him only move to london, centre of the universe .
jkfelix Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 I also reckon that Milan would much rather do business with us than with Chelsea. Que? You don't believe they will get more money out of Chelsea than us? Elaborate.
Guest Kev Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 what about the £50 million transfer fee? Offer them Traore and then would leave only £5m for us to find
Albertini Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Isn't there some new FIFA rule about transfer fees for players over 28 though? Seem to recall it being trotted it out about Terry Henry a couple of weeks ago. It works out something like you can't get more than £10 million for a player aged 28 or over? Could be b****x but i thought i read it in the Times.

Guest TanMan Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Que? You don't believe they will get more money out of Chelsea than us? Elaborate. Course they'd get more money out of Chelsea than us, but they'd see him going to Chelsea as much more harmful as far as European dominance goes. Chelsea haven't done it in Europe yet but with Sheva they almost certainly will. Whereas if they sold him to us

No chance, we'd of had as good a chance as anyone before Abramovich come along but not now. They can just double any transfer fee and wages we could offer. Not overly bothered anyway as splashing an absolute s***load on a 29 year old wouldnt be to clever.
