The Earlies the other night. A weird night - four bands on:

High Dials - who were an absolute shambles and had a singer who was a stranger to the concept of matching the melody with the key.

Dawn Landes - started with a stunning opening song (a Tom Waits cover) - I don't think I've ver been at a concert where the chattering has died off so quickly - but quickly went downhill from their with too much of the tiresome quirkiness that seems to grip a lot of female singer-songwriters.

Midlake - who played a very curtailed sets (three songs only) and had too many beards but sounded halfr decent if a little worthy.

The Earlies themselves - who were also worryingly beard heavy but sounded quite a bit dirtier and rockier than their records suggest they would. The new stuff sounded excellent as well.
