England defender Rio Ferdinand will play pranks on his team-mates for an ITV1 stunt show during the World Cup.

 

Rio Ferdinand's World Cup Wind-Ups will see the footballer playing practical jokes on Wayne Rooney and Peter Crouch.

 

The show, which has already been filmed, is likely to be shown after England's first game in the tournament.

 

Channel 4 has also revealed that Noel Edmonds' gameshow Deal Or No Deal will be shown in the evening during June as an alternative to World Cup matches.

 

The programme will continue in its regular afternoon slot, but a second edition will be shown in prime time for a week-long trial period in June.

 

The World Cup, and other high-profile programmes like Celebrity X Factor, are expected to make this a tough summer for Channel 4.

 

The channel hopes to fight back with Deal or No Deal and the seventh series of Big Brother, which starts on Thursday.
