Bailo Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Arsenal. Their season is too weirdly like last season for us.

Des Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 (edited) I want Barca to lift it and have voted for them but have a terrible feeling that this is the Ar se's night. Edited May 17, 2006 by Des
Stevie H Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 I want Barca to lift it and have voted for them but have a terrible feeling that this is the Ar se's night. ditto. also have a hunch that it's not going to be the feast of football that most are predicting.
Figaro Posted May 17, 2006 Author Posted May 17, 2006 ditto. also have a hunch that it's not going to be the feast of football that most are predicting. I have a terrible feeling that the gifted one will spend more time doing crowd pleasing aesthetically wonderful flicks and dribbles whilst forgetting that the real purpose of the game is to put the ball in the back of the net. Now I've said that - just watch him go and do a "Bernabeau" again
Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 if there is one thing you can't accuse goofy of, it is not turning up for the big games. This ability is probably the main reason he is considered the supremely best player in the world. There are other players who can deliver world class performances, but no one (save emaybe gerrard ) does it so consistently on the big occasions as he does. If he does to Arsenal what he did to Real, he'll be on standby to boost into the maradona/pele stratosphere, I reckon.
Flight Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 If Henry scores and Arsenal win, shhurely that would make him less likely to join Barce ? It'll be an interesting game whatever happens.

Bailo Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 funnily enough i've a hunch that eto'o could be barca's matchwinner tonight.Me to'o A case of The Propellerheads and Shirley Bassey then?Indeed so. But I don't think the a*** will do it the hard way like us
Cobs Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 think it will be Barca think they have too much for Arsenal and Milan's experience last year will remind them never to be complacent. Hope Arsenal do them though.
Des Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Hope Arsenal do them though. Supporting the English club? I wasn't expecting that from you Cobs.
Bailo Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 I'm waiting for John L's response, he's always hard to call on these matters.
Cobs Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Supporting the English club? I wasn't expecting that from you Cobs. prejudging my reasons for favouring Arsenal over Barca? I wasn't expecting that from you Des.
Scally the Wag Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Can't get away from disliking Wenger... Why can't he manage a really detestable club like Borough (or worse)? At least a vote for Barca is still a vote for decent football... My vote goes with the boys from Barca, with Arsenal's Euro luck finally deserting them. Cole to be shown up and at least one goalkeeping error. Incidentally, I took out a bet on Saturday (during the FA Final), that a certain Arsenal keeper will get carded tonight for raising studs whilst leaping to catch a ball.
Des Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 prejudging my reasons for favouring Arsenal over Barca? I wasn't expecting that from you Des. Why do you want them to win it then? I just don't want any English club to win it again before we do (and we will).
Cobs Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 Why do you want them to win it then? I just don't want any English club to win it again before we do (and we will). If it was United in it i'd be backing Barca all the way 1. I don't like Barca (no particular reason in that, just one of those things).2. Barca are on 1 European Cup, they (IMO at least) are the stand-out club in Europe at the moment, if they win the CL this season i could see them going on (esp. with the signing of Henry) and winning more in the next few years pushing them closer to us on the all-time list - i sense no threat of this from Arsenal whatsoever.3. It would piss Ferguson off something chronic4. i think it reflects well on us and our League, much like it used to back in the late 70s/early 80s5. Steven Gerrard wants Arsenal to win it too it's not like i'm gonna be gutted if Arsenal lose, btw.
Montse Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 I think Barcas game will suit the pitch at Stade Francais more than Arsenals who like to play close controlled stuff whereas Barca thrive on space.

We will add to our tally within the next few seasons and overtake Milan. Don't really see Barca as a threat to that just yet. 3. It would piss Ferguson off something chronic Again, fairy nuff but that still wouldn't assuage my feelings of jealousy while watching Henry and Wenger parading around with Big Ears. 4. i think it reflects well on us and our League, much like it used to back in the late 70s/early 80s Not a*sed. I think two finals in successive seasons involving English clubs (and even one making the UEFA final) has already done that. 5. Steven Gerrard wants Arsenal to win it too *shrugs* Come on ye Catalans. Edited May 17, 2006 by Des
Coyler Posted May 17, 2006 Posted May 17, 2006 The head says Barcelona, but the outrageous burgundy fake-silk shirt I chickened out of wearing at the last minute this morning says Arsenal. Old school chum is Arsenal, an honourable man of soccer to boot, and Ferguson would have a canary.

Give him a bottle of Glenmorangie at the start of the match and all. Sky viewers press the red nose. The death rattle at full time if Arsenal won it ... oh my!
